Feb 4, 2015 1:00 AM NH1 Pulse Poll: Walker surges to top with Romney's exit; Bush second By: Paul SteinhauserNH1 Political Director - NH1.com CONCORD - New Hampshire may have a new front-runner in the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
The first survey conducted in the first-in-the-nation primary state since Mitt Romney's exit from the 2016 White House race indicates that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker leads the pack of potential Republican presidential contenders.
According to an NH1 Pulse Poll released Wednesday, Walker has the backing of 21.2% of those who say they're likely to vote in next year's GOP presidential primary. The automated survey indicates Jeb Bush in second place, with 14.4% saying they'd support the former two-term Florida governor if the Feb. 9, 2016 primary was held now.
The poll was conducted Monday and Tuesday, after Romney's announcement last Friday that he wouldn't make a third run for the White House. The 2012 GOP nominee and former Massachusetts governor, who owns a vacation home along Lake Winnipesaukee, is very well known in New Hampshire and would have been the front-runner in the primary if he had launched a campaign.
A NH1 Pulse Poll conducted two weeks ago put Romney at 29% support, far ahead of the rest of the field. Bush was at 11% and Walker was at 8% in that same survey.

Don’t you need a social security number and an address to get a job? I know the IRS would have no trouble finding me.
It’s not that they can’t be found it that the government doesn’t want to. It’s a lack of will.
Illegals mostly use illegal social security numbers.
No employer gets prison time for hiring a person with phony social security number.
So not only do they break our laws crossing our border but then proceed to commit identity theft? Maybe we should close down the Mexican border for awhile till this all gets sorted out. Ya think? Then Americans can do those jobs that the Mexicans can no longer do.
It’s too bad no one warned us about governors as presidents. We could have avoided Clinton, Carter and a few others.
There were bad presidents that came from Congress and from governorships and vice versa. Lincoln only had two years under his belt as a member of the House and he was a lawyer. Go figure.
Work permits are either expensive, or require certain qualifications which many illiterate illegals do not possess.
Our immigration system is broken, and needs fixing.
Much less expensive and much more effective would be mandatory prison for employers hiring illegals. All it would require is a data base to quickly find out if an applicant is a citizen or legal immigrant.
Again note that more than half of illegals arrived on jet planes, legally. They just overstayed their visa.
“Work permits are either expensive, or require certain qualifications which many illiterate illegals do not possess.”
Why are we worried about illiterate illegals?
I won’t vote for a governor or ex-governor. All they want is to govern, but we already have too much government.
