Don't be surprised. I am positive that more TEA party elected officials will turn. Personally, I find many TEA party folks to be just finding their politics. They have lived conservative lives and are decent Americans, but when it comes to politics it is often superficial and rather populous in nature, but definitely well intended.

It takes great moral fortitude to stand ones ground under significant adversity. The grandpa had a gun and I am for the 2A is easy to say, but when hammered by liberals and popular opinion of low information voters a choice presents itself. Do I keep my job, or do I stand on a story about grandpa when I do not have deeper core convictions other than wanting to do the right thing?

What I am writing, every so delicately, is that some TEA party politicians really are not that deep ... just like most people are not really that deep. They start off doing the right thing and it morphs to place that they never anticipated.

One doubts Michael Grimm could have gotten into office in this "purple" District without Tea Party members and other conservatives voting for him in high numbers.

He started out well, but has spent too much time around the wrong people(D).

Bad company corrupts good character. He's forgotten where he came from.

This is why you don’t turn numb brained and support all vets, politically. Some are absolute fascist/commie; totally ignoring their oath to the constitution, like any run of the mill democrat/rino politican. Like this little piggy hiding behind a uniform. Heck, we have Generals advocating for shiria speech control laws!!!

There are a few oddball lefties amongst us (prior service). Look at how many of us there are altogether (millions). It’s no surprise to see a few of the weirdest drawn to comfortable positions to politics. That’s where many weird folks from all walks of life go.

Remember that Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) served as with the US Army in the Korean War, but we're still not sure if he was with the NorKs or Chicoms. Also, Rep. John Murtha (D-PA, deceased) was a Marine in Viet Nam, but we're not sure if he was with the VC or NVA.

I remember the surprise and glee when a couple of other freepers and I showed up at the Young Republicans results-watching party in 2010 and were told jubilantly that Grimm had won. He had been declared the winner as we traveled from the big party to the little party.

His district is conservative, relatively speaking. He does not deserve them.

Staten Island Tea Party hosted Newt too. Packed with Staten Islanders plus people like me who had taken their second ride ever on the Staten Island ferry. They are a good group. Solid.

WTF?

A tea Party guy and a Marine supporting Cuomo’s heinous gun ban?

Tar and feathers is too good for this clown.
