Thursday’s Gallup tracking poll giving Republican nominee Mitt Romney a seven-point lead over President Barack Obama sent shock waves throughout the political world. It also may have dampened the outlook of a few Democrats just weeks before the presidential election.
On Fox News Channel’s “The Five” on Thursday, Bob Beckel, the show’s lone liberal, said the election is over if the poll is accurate.
“If I were looking at the numbers and managing the campaign, I would be upset,” Beckel said. “I’m not sure panic. But if the numbers are correct, it’s over. It is over. So, I mean you are not going to bring Romney back under 50 percent from 52 percent, not a challenging candidate. If that is correct, I don’t necessarily buy it’s correct.”
Beckel denied doubting the polls, but said the plus or minus four percent margin of error gave him hope Obama would prevail in November.
Gosh, 2DV, you really know how to hit a guy where it hurts.
I know that if the polls were reversed, I would surely think we were finished.
I don’t believe Gallop. They slant Obama. May be a trick.
Beckel: “These numbers are not optimal.”
This is just an attempt to lull the Republicans into complacency and hold down the Romney vote.

Beckel is correct. The margin is outside the margin of error.
And how well did Mondale do in that race? Remind me. I want to go to bed smiling...
Got a kick out of that tub’o-guts Beckel lecturing O’Reilly the other night about how Frank Luntz doesn’t know how to run a focus group and those people who flipped to Romney in LV were all full of it.
I think O’Reilly has Beckel on his show because he’s more of an intellectual equal. The emminent Doctor Mark Lamont Hill is far smarter than O’Reilly. Beckel is about as smart as a schnauzer.
My favorite map ever... And Mondale barlely won His home state of Minnesota.
I have to give Beckel some grudging credit for hanging in there and getting beat up by the other four every day without whining.
I kind of remember after the election, the Dem Party was broke, that a national telethon was held to raise funds. The GOP chair actually appeared to appeal GOP voters to send money to preserve the two party system!!!

That’s what happens when you run a clueless and morally bankrupt campaign.
Mondale was fear mongering about how Regan was going to get us all killed in a nuclear war and ran on a platform of raising taxes. A lot good that did him, he ended up like 7,000 votes away from a 50 state butt kicking.
He must have some sort of fetish about being dogpiled by all the hot chicks on that show.
