Political fortunes can turn on a dime and for many reasons. At this point four years ago the nominees were obviously going to be Giuliani and Hillary and McCain was going to drop out at any second. Time disproved these assumptions.
For a time, the race has seemed to alternate between Romney and some upstart. Each time, the upstart would peak for a couple weeks and crash back down to reality, only to be replaced by another a little later. The one constant has always been Romney.
This consistency to stay near at top has given people the mistaken belief that Romney will likely be the nominee, but in truth the opposite is true. The ease at which Romney has been overtaken by challenges demonstrates that his support is not strong and that he is very few people's second choice. In a race with so many candidates, that is a very dangerous place to be. And because of this weakness, some candidate will eventually consolidate support around themselves and the candidates most suited to do that are Cain and Gingrich for the following reasons
Newt has been playing it smart. In the debates and in his speeches, he has not done anything to rile up the supporters of his opponents to swear against every voting for him. The other candidates have. How many of Perry's last remaining rats will flee the sinking ship by jumping on Michele Bachmann's lifeboat? How many will jump to Romney?

I don't think this 999 catchy line is something to hang our hats on and Vote for Cain just because he keeps repeating that shtick.
If that is the case, then we can't fault Pelosie for saying "We have to pass this bill, before we know what's in it".
Cain's is elect me, then you will find out what 999 is. Oh, there are some that THINK they know, but REALLY? The devil is in the details.
Not at all, and that is NOT what I said. Reagan's divorce was obviously beyond his control; his first wife left him.
My rather obvious point is that marital fidelity matters in the presidency, and Newt fails in spades in this department. And yes, Newt IS a RINO.
Sorry, Mameluke, I meant that last statement for pogo.
I can't stand Karl Rove. He is so obvious...he thinks we are stupid!
Why is it such a little known fact that Herman Cain at one time was chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank? That is one hell of an impressive qualification for a presidential candidate, especially when we’re in the middle of a financial crisis. How many past presidents have we had with that kind of financial background? I can’t think of any.
You want details?
Is it too early to tell you that we will miss you?
huh?
oh
pure nonsense. only a moron would believe that horshit.
here’s how it will go:
phase one: 9-9-9
phase two: 10-10-10
phase three: 11-11-11
phase four: 12-12-12
phase five: 12-12-12-12 (they’ll figure out another tax to stuck us with)
phase 25: 25-25-25-25-25
Pelosi couch RINO Newt Scozzafava? NFW.
In that case, we institute the long fought-over bill that requires two-thirds of Congress, a hyper-majority if you will, to raise tax rates.
Really? I met Newt in person in 2007 and that's precisely what he did. The guy was such a blowhard egotist and impersonal jerk (moreso than any of the dozen big name politicians I met that day) that I swore I would never vote for him after our brief handshake and photo-op together. And he wasn't even running for office back then, just touting his books!
From what I hear, other freepers that have met him in person have had similar experiences.
“I dont see Huntsman having a chance.,,,”
Sadly there is no accounting for irrational hate from the right. But people have only tentatively committed and the most solid candidate with a flawless platform and 100% ability to beat Obama could still be the last one standing.
Huh? Who says I “don’t recognize” anything? You brought up divorce and ONLY divorce, and that’s what I commented back about. “What’s appalling is that,” after YOU brought it up and I commented back about it, you ADD adultery to the mix and accuse me of not “recognizing” it.
Seek help.
It’s obvious he has a huuuuuuge ego.
It’s a shame cause he has many positives to go with his negatives.
