LOL but true. My wife & I watch the Create channel on PBS: Jacques Pepin, Lydia Bastianich, Cooks Country, Milk Street, Key Ingredient, etc.. Lots of usable recipes and techniques.
No Travel on the Travel channel
No Science on Discovery Science
No History on the History channel
No movies on AMC.
No bravo on Bravo.
etc.
At least they’re consistent.
No history on History Channel either. Okay maybe a little, but it’s well past the days when Roger Mudd hosted Movies in Time.
“If you don’t want a man unhappy politically, don’t give him two sides to a question to worry him; give him one. Better yet, give him none. Let him forget there is such a thing as war. If the government is inefficient, top-heavy, and tax-mad, better it be all those than that people worry over it. Peace, Montag. Give the people contests they win by remembering the words to more popular songs or the names of state capitals or how much corn Iowa grew last year. Cram them full of noncombustible data, chock them so damned full of ‘facts’ they feel stuffed, but absolutely ‘brilliant’ with information. Then they’ll feel they’re thinking, they’ll get a sense of motion without moving. And they’ll be happy, because facts of that sort don’t change.”
― Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
Oh my...I remember the “You Are There” movies in middle school. I thought they were awesome.
Same thing up here in the Great White North. They have a channel called HGTV that is supposed to be Home and Gardening and the complaints I’ve heard about it now is that it is mostly now home renovations with contractors and customers yelling and swearing at each other (bleeped out) with no gardening programs altogether. I used to like watching Hometime on PBS, lol. Hope I did not go too much off topic here concerning reality TV channels here.
Why I don’t subscribe to any type of entertainment service or watch TV. Not even over the air broadcast TV.
LOL. I thought maybe Val would bring up the fact that the contestants on the cooking contest shows must include one foreigner, one gay and at least one woman. And they all need a sob story about how their entire existence is a living hell and winning the competition would fix all their problems.
No news on the Cable News Network.
No, it’s perfect.
No H or G on Home & Garden Network.
No DIY of Do-It-Yourself Network.............
*THIS*
Great list.
Under the category “Top network execs cannot explain drops in ratings. Maybe solar flares suggests one.”
No Country Music on the Country Music Television (CMT)......
Ray described Jeopardy and YouTube infotainment videos to a T.
No history on the History Channel
