You can read the document at the source. It's pretty much what you'd expect.

But that diagram. It raises all kinds of questions in my mind.

This is what happens when you emphasize SJW Marxist nonsense over actual education.

With the methods of “teaching” reading in the USA, it is amazing anyone can read.

Recently I had a repairman come to the home to fix an appliance. In communicating he (or I) spoke into his smart phone and then I (or he) read what the other one had said in the appropriate language.

Later at work, a coworker said that police use this frequently in communicating with people who don’t speak English very well (or at all).

Literacy is about will, and compulsory education won't make anti-literate people change their minds.

Embracing written language is a dividing line between primitive people and civilized people.

Yes, but by separating out *Whites* from *Hispanics*, it doesn’t look as bad for other groups.

Good information at the link - thanks for the post. I need to chase down some of the referenced support data, particularly that OECD report. Just interpreting from my experience & education on adult education, I think those literacy levels have some parallels to a classic education psychology approach called Bloom’s Taxonomy.

My suspicious eye is attracted to the words "Percent of subpopulation."

I think there is mischief represented there.

33 years ago, when my first child was entering Kindergarten, I saw the new methods of child-centered learning and the whole-language approach to NOT teaching reading, spelling and writing.

I let her go to school for about a week, as I went shopping for supplies, did some quick research, and set up a little school room at home.

I wound up home-schooling way back then, before there were all kinds of programs and supplies. I wrote my own program for reading and spelling, using phonetic rules, which letter/s to sounds association, rapid left-to-right decoding. No guessing, no skipping words....reading.

I schooled both of my kids for about 6 years, started a small tutoring busines, had many, many children of all ages over the years, and it paid to put my own kids through Christian schooling. Just last June, I finished up teaching my 3rd grandchild and now all of them are in Christian school as well.

I said way back then that this system is designed to dumb down the population and there’s no way it’s not intentional.

“”Yes, but by separating out *Whites* from *Hispanics*, it doesn’t look as bad for other groups.””

Have a little look here: https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten

With the exceptions of “Homme” and the token white guy in the lower right all of this gang of little rascals is listed as white or “white (Hispanic)”

Most prog reporting on crime will breeze over that little detail and lump them all in as just white.

“equity”

.

We homeschooled for the same reasons.

We wrote our own curriculum, using mostly school books from the early to mid 1800s.

I found 2 sets of phonics rules forgotten since that era.feel free to use them:

Close to 40 years ago (mid 80's) when I went back to college to finish up my degree, I was appalled at the illiteracy, and lack of math and writing skills among college freshmen then.

I can only imagine how much worse it is now, 2 generations later.
