Walmart customer SLAMS retail giant for putting women's underwear next to the MEN'S section and in front of the food - insisting 'girls should be able to shop for bras and panties in private'
Daily Mail UK ^ | June 23, 2023 | Rachel Summer

A Walmart customer has furiously slammed the retail giant for placing a range of bras and panties that were seemingly being marketed at young girls next to the men's clothing section in her local store.

Sasha Piton of Idaho Falls, Idaho, took to TikTok to rant about the awkward positioning of two clothing sections, further noting that these 'bras and panties' were also easily visible from the megastore's grocery department.

After stating she'd come to Walmart to look for a bralette she'd seen on a different visit, Sasha, who goes by @thesashapiton on the platform, couldn't help but notice the odd product proximities.

'Here's the food section; here's the men's section. Why are panties and bras right by the food and the men's section?' she implored in the 48-second video.

'I don't care. I'm a grown woman,' she further declared.

'But I think if you are a teenager who wants to look at these fun, cute, totally colored panties, why do you have to do it next to the men's section or next to the food section?

'For girls between the ages of eight and 18 should totally get to shop their bras and panties in private,' she continued.

'And I get, I get it's a big old store. But I just don't think that these cute little panties should be right across from the men's section.

'These are definitely like more geared for teenagers but still - just come on. Come on!' she concluded.

FReepers I gave this article some thought and all the wal marts near me? Yes they are like this. The womens/teens/girl's underwear is across the isle from the men's department with the food department being just to the right (Or left depending on where you are facing the knickers).

Wal mart could put the knickers in the middle of the women's clothing department but not it's right across the isle from the men's, not the boys mind you the men's.

Back in the day Stone and Thomas, JC Penny, Sears, K Mart and Montgomery Ward never did stuff like this. Women's/Girl's knickers were on the other side of the store away from the men's section.

What do you all think?

No way in Hell would I shop for bras and panties next to the men’s section. Stupid planning on Walmart’s part.

It’s Wal-Mart. Someone with the figure of Gisele Bundchen is not going to ship there.

They (walmart and other retailers) pay big bucks to people to re-set their merchendice so they can sell more.

So if they all do this then someone told them this was a winning marketing ploy.

I don't see how it would be but that is why they would do it.

Of course, Walmart has kept stores that ran at a loss open for decades so perhaps their executives are not that bright.

Nope. Disagree. There isn’t a right to privacy shopping in public. In the dressing rooms, yes. Browsing areas of the store for clothing, nope. If they want better separated areas for mens and womens clothes, go to a department store. They are often on different floors. Or at least have degrees of separation on the same floor. Walmarts and Targets never had department store layouts because its a bargain bin shopoing experience.

I wonder why they would do this?

I believe a lot of careful thought goes into store layout and product placement.

Department stores are not Walmarts. As I said in the previous posts.

Its for efficiency. Its an entire underwear section one area for men, one for women. Easier to restock or change stock. Can bring all of it to the same general place and then take anything necessary, back.

It’s a neurotic complaint.
Who gives a @#£%? This is an issue?
Perhaps for people without enough real problems.

I hate clothes shopping - always have. When I had to shop I sent to my local Macy’s which was never busy. It was great. Men’s section on one floor, women’s on another. They closed and I no longer work so, thank God, I have enough clothes to never walk into another department store.

I’m wondering too. The more I think about it the more sleezier it appears.

One of the Wal Marts I shop at? Not only are the knickers right across from the men’s department but the women’s sleep wear. I know back in the day, back when big department stores were the thing this would not have happened.

Good grief even men’s and women’s shoes had a different place in the store!

So is the woman upset because she thinks that people think she wears underwear, or upset because she wanted them think she doesn’t wear underwear?

Would she complain if toilet paper was stocked near the deli?

Department stores are and never have been the same as big box stores. Because they were multifloor and always demarcated large general areas for things, and had history to the floorplans, this stuff doesn’t happen there.

What possible difference does it make what the women/girls look like?

If you're buying your undies at Walmart, you don't care who sees you.

This complaint is a nothingburger.

You don’t understand.

It was just the women’s knickers across the isle from men’s clothing. Clothing as in just t shirts and pants.

The men’s knickers were not across the isle but further back.

So men shopping for t shirts and pants see teens/women shopping for knickers.

Now do you get it?

Maybe that’s it then.

They did for a long time before anyone cared.

Odd that this is even a story.

Most clothing stores I know put men's and women's underwear in more discrete locations. Walmart and warehouse stores can provide lower prices because they are set up to handle high volume sales to give those prices. If someone doesn't like how Walmart sets up their stores, either live with it or buy somewhere else.
