Although I cannot give legal advice, everything I learned from armed self-defense courses taught by law enforcement professionals, and books by Cooper and also Massad Ayoob, conveys the same message. You can legally kill or seriously injure a goblin who puts you in what the law defines as reasonable fear for your life. "Reasonable" means the goblin must exhibit (1) a verbal or visual threat of death or serious injury and (2) the immediate (not future or past) means of putting that threat into effect. This means is that, when five individuals surround Bernhard Goetz on a subway and allegedly demand money, the law's hypothetical reasonable person can construe this as robbery and open fire on them. Once they flee, however, or are down and incapable of violence, they no longer have the immediate means of harming you even if they had it but seconds earlier. If you then take the law into your own hands by saying, "You don't look so bad, here's another" and shooting at a fallen and disarmed assailant, you are likely to get into real trouble.

I am sorry that none of the mob of feral urban youths got a USMC lesson in manners. The author is probably right that the Marines probably thought they would be the ones demonized and punished by their woke leadership if they defended themselves.

Frankly, it doesn’t pay to try to correct bad behavior on your own. The marines should’ve probably just called the police & let them deal with it. If they didn’t come, let the kids do what they do. The world we live in...
I mentioned on another thread that the Marines as adults would be in a world of sh*t if they FUBARed up some minors. If the attackers were adults, the Marines would not be in trouble if they messed them up.
The marines should have left if the fireworks offended them. Kind of a Karen thing to do unless someone was getting hurt by said fireworks.
That being said to be attacked by a mob that large is disgusting and it’s unfortunate the marines were not allowed to be armed

I see another side to that (just for the sake of discussion). You’ve just been through a very traumatic situation. If you call 911, they have your demeanor and your immediate description of what occurred recorded. You will not have time to think about what you say, and the operator is going to start peppering you with questions. Are you too calm? Are you hysterical? All that can come into play in court. One wrong statement can make the difference between self defense and murder. What do all lawyers tell you? STFU. Of course, if you’re the only one there you have to make the call, or shoot, shovel, and shut up.

I read the story and watched the video of the Marine going after the kid that hit him and said to myself “That was stupid”. Then I remembered being in a very similar situation and doing the same thing. I was about 16 and riding the subway with a friend of mine. We were the only 2 whites in the car along with about 6 or 7 other older adults. A group of about 7 early teen or preteen urban yoots got on an one of them decided to harass the “white boys”. He was asking for money, being insulting, standing over us etc. At one point I had enough of this little prik and stood up. I was like a head taller than him. The some of his friends started to stand up. The kid was saying “whatchu gon do, whatchu gon do”? An older man was trying to calm things down and diffuse the situation. Luckily ours was the next stop and my friend and I got off. As we were at the top of the stairs leaving the station the little prik ran up, hit me in the back and ran back down. I saw red and started to chase him and my much smarter and level headed friend grabbed me and we went to our destination. No doubt there was a beating or worse waiting at the bottom of those stairs.

That likely happened many years ago, but the ferals remain stuck in time. They just cycle through another generation of punks, convicts and losers.
If the so-called ‘community’ wanted a better life for themselves and their kids the solution (the actions, behaviors and attitudes to take) are neither complicated or exclusive to a particular race. It is a choice to make.
My point is that I grew up with this shit and so will my kids. We teach them about the hard reality (crime statistics and cultural differences), and how to manage to it. It’s a damn shame that we must, and a bigger shame on all those too lazy, stupid and/or corrupt to fix that broken culture.

How do you defeat a Marine? The same way you defeat anyone else: make him more afraid of his own command chain than he is of the enemy. That way he won’t take personal initiative or do *anything* without clear and explicit orders from higher up, to cover his ass in case something goes wrong.
It’s the same way we have all become more afraid of our own police departments, prosecutors, and district attorneys than we are of the obviously visible criminals in our midst. A criminal can only make your life miserable for a little while. A vindictive prosecutor on a crusade can make you and your family’s lives a living Hell for years.
