When I was a smoker I rarely craved sweets. Didn’t even care for ice cream. Was also a size 3-5. Years later I have cravings for sugar four days out of seven.

Yes. Next question, please.
Good point. I do find that a piece of chicken or a handful of unsalted nuts cut the cravings off much better than a sweet snack. The refined sugar and flour carb snacks are simply unfair. They set up more cravings than they resolve. They are not our friends.
stop with the processed seed oils...they’re in EVERYTHING ~ they make you fat
I may or may not watch the video, but suggest others do.
I know things about the ‘food pyramid’, including that the wheat lobby influenced it heavily.
If the last 3 years didn’t teach anyone anything, at a minimum the prime takeaway should have been “don’t trust government” (bureaucrats, including doctors).
What was life expectancy doing BEFORE the virus?
There you are...
The fat broads on FR will get you.
Had several attack me over the years for expressing my (and others) distaste for fat chicks.
I discovered Dr. Jason Fung about a year ago on YouTube. He and Dr. Robert Lustig are awesome! I listen to their talks about fasting, and sugar, all the time to help me stick to my diet.
I'm learning to do that. My joke is that in order to lose weight, I'm forced to live on food and water.
Same here. I can eat tremendous amounts of anything except meat. I could easily eat a whole pie by myself. I don't, but I could. I never feel full, unless I eat meat. And I don't particularly like meat.
You bring up a good point, something I’ve wondered about.
It kind of clicked with me, I’d always heard that “sugar is sugar” and it doesn’t matter.
But recently it was pointed out to me, that unlike Glucose, which can be utilized by virtually every cell in the human organism, Fructose is only processed in the liver.
People *already* have fatty liver, is it caused by Fructose? I’d like to read more on that. I just figured the HFCS in everything was just fueling even more metabolic syndrome.
Alcohol is another layer on top. It is burned preferentially before anything else, including carbohydrate.
I take the hybrid view that a beer or pizza or ice cream is OK once in a while. But I have to restrict calories overall with a sharp pencil.
I liken it in some ways to tuning an old school engine. The internal combustion engine needs a certain air/fuel ratio. Under many situations, it needs to run on the lean side, or it will produce sludge and everything gets clogged up. The idle circuit, accelerator pump circuit, cruise circuit jetting etc, an engine idling all day will load up very quickly.
Exercise, and idling on the “lean” side, this is a key component to health and longevity. We eat too much because it tastes good, and makes us feel good, if only temporary. What torques me is when the “experts” try to say it isn’t about discipline or self control. Yes, yes it is.
My mother said poor Mexicans were fat because they ate so much rice and beans.
We used to know the truth. Then came big Pharma.
That is my new quest. But I’m having a real hard time letting go of my Best Foods Mayonnaise!
LOL!
rice, beans, corn.
30 years of corn starch, high fructose CORN syrup, and worse and... here we are.
My grandparents ate everything on their plates, fat, gristle, mopping it all up with dark Bauernbrot/rye/pumpernickel bread.
3 outta 4 died by age 66 of heart disease/atherosclerosis/stroke.
My Dad’s mom lived to be 103. Go figure.
