Why has the Abe murder vanished from the news? One of the most important stories certainly of the year if not the decade it is treated like a low level crime story. Abe was truly the best and most powerful friend the US had in Japan and the westpac region. His murder is virtually on a JFK level of importance. However, the media have it seems been given the word to send the event and its possible Chinese connection down the memory hole just like the destruction of Notre Dame de Paris.
Guess he wasn’t THAT important after all.
He was a friend of Trump?
Media disinterest summed up in three words - Friend of Trump.
What else is there to talk about? To keep something in the news there has to be developing events.
Heck, what about the El Paso Wal Mart shooter ?
I was going to say it pails in comparison to JFK until I saw the words “chinese connection”.

Friend of Trump?, he was assassinated about 150 years ago in Ford Theater. Trump wasn't around then.

Abe is dead. The assassin is in custody. The weapon has been found. The motive has been identified. What are you expecting to happen?

Some of us have learned to be skeptical of what we read in the news. Understandably so.
They caught the guy and he was a whack job.

He was a Japanese politician. Given the lack of interest in covering non Western political events the amount of coverage and interest shown by the media over the murder is quite high.

What I find most troubling is that most of the coverage Japanese media give now (at least English-language ones like the Mainichi or JapanToday) is about Japanese politicians who have connections to the Moonies. Abe’s assassin targeted him because of a supposed connection to the Moonies, and because the assassin blamed the Moonies for ruining his family because of the large donations his mother, a member, made. But even so, it seems like the J-media is playing right into the assassin’s hands by scrutinizing politicians for connections to that cult.
