This is what finally puts an end to Australia
American Thinker ^ | 3 Aug, 2022 | Viv Forbes

Australia survived booms and busts, two World Wars, and the Great Depression only to run aground on pure ridiculousness.

There is an ominous buzz in the new Australian Parliament — Albo and the Greens are planning to pass 40 new bills, quick smart.

Each bill will probably need 100 new regulations and 200 new inspectors, auditors, and enforcers plus many new taxes and fees. They will not deliver "Net Zero" — they are "Net Negative." They will divert labor and capital from productive activities to bureaucracies and green energy speculators.

Where are the 40 old bills that Green-Albo will repeal to make room for these 40 wordy additions to Australia's already overflowing legislative sewer?

We need a new political party dedicated solely to repeal of costly, destructive, and useless legislation.

Australia has thrived for over 200 years without Green-Albo's forty new laws. So they can be safely rejected or repealed, and followed out the door by most of the legislation introduced under the baleful gaze of the Green Quad — Gillard, Rudd, Turnbull, and Morrison. A safe policy for the new Repeal Party is "Last in, First Out."

Not only is it imperative to start the domestic repeal movement, but Australia also needs to back out of the international agreements swamp. Top priority here is to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.

Probably the worst bill in Green-Albo's legislative avalanche is "The Climate Change Bill." This dreadful piece of legislation gives the government the ability to "ratchet up" green targets without new parliamentary approval but makes it difficult for future governments to ratchet back these targets.

Every Australian I have spoken to is behind this crap. I haven’t spoken to one that values their freedom.

I wonder how much of Australia has been lost to sea level rise in the past 50 years.

Australians have been among the most docile, compliant sheep on the planet during the COVID fiasco. They failed the IQ test a long time ago.

Real smart, Oz.

Vote for Labor/Greens in the recent election to show how mad you were at the government (the Ozzie version of RINOs) over the Covid lockdowns.

JEEZUS, you can't fix stupid!

What did you think you were going to get with the Left?!

Once a penal colony…

I've noticed that. However a land is first settled, leaves a mark on it. The trend tends to be, the land follows the tone and cast of the way it was settled.

For example, America. We had political outcasts and revolutionaries shipped here.

Your observation: Australia, settled as a penal colony for criminals.

My home state of Georgia: "Georgia, for example, was first founded by James Edward Oglethorpe who originally intended to use prisoners taken from debtors' prisons, creating a "Debtor's Colony," where the prisoners could work off their debts..."

The Penal Colony aspect of Georgia's founding shows in the way cops interact with people here. In Upstate New York, when I lived there, cops were respectful and pleasant. Not so much, here in Georgia.

How a land is founded, tends to effect it forevermore.

IF that’s what they want as a country, go for, I wish them well in the future.

If countries are bound and determined to destroy themselves, once you warn them and they keep going, wish them well and watch them turn into a divided third world country.

Sooner or later a few of these countries like Australia, New Zealand and Canada with progressive green candidates need to fully implement their plans and see what happens. Sort of an Atlas Shrugged type of moment, take care of yourself, take care of your family and let everyone else starve to death if necessary.

The Anglosphere, which should collectively be the world’s bulwark of freedom and its last best hope, is going down the crapper altogether.

I once held out hope that Australia would make a nice place to retire.

Or somewhere in remote places of Canada.

There is an outstanding book by David Kopel called "The Samurai, the Mountie and the Cowboy: Should America Adopt the Gun Controls of Other Democracies?"

In this heavily-footnoted book, Kopel makes a compelling case that each nation's history and culture underpins its approach to firearms and the citizenry. America's individualist foundations is embodied in the gun-wielding Cowboy who stands ready to defend his family at all costs. This is contrast with Japan's Samurai/the hereditary military nobility and officer caste of medieval and early-modern Japan that protected the "little people."

The takeaway, is that it's effectively impossible (if not futile) for one nation to look to a different nation with a different history and culture for guidance on firearms policy. The Japanese think we are maniacs for letting people own guns, and not trusting our overlords for protection. We think other nations are collections of sheeple, afraid to lift a finger to defend their life, liberty and property.

Of course we are right (!) but Kopel's thesis is in line with your settlement hypothesis.

Right With the dramatic example of the EU staring them in the face, they STILL want to do the green thing.

Duuuhhhh...! We need to start a meter for of how long it will take before they go begging for help, with energy and clean water

The best way to get rid of green socialism is to strictly enforce it. Let’s see how Aussies really think about this in the not so distant future.

Here’s my pessimistic prediction for the next decade or longer.

China, Russia and other nations aligned with them will be the dominate players in the world.

The USA will cease to be the major superpower, we will still be a superpower, China will surpass us.

The Western world will go down this WEF, Green New Deal, or whatever you call it road.

One day when the world is in complete shambles, it might start to change but there is going to be a major realignment in the next decade or so.
