The former head of US intelligence blasted one of the officials who signed the letter casting doubt on Hunter Biden’s laptop - calling him a lying “phony” and igniting a Twitter war over the weekend.
The spat erupted Saturday when Richard Grenell, the former Trump-appointed acting director of national intelligence, reacted to a post from John Sipher, who retired from the CIA in 2014, about ethical behavior among public servants.
“Didn’t @john_sipher sign a letter 3 weeks before the 2020 elections saying don’t look at Hunter Biden’s laptop because it’s Russian disinformation?” Grenell tweeted Saturday. “Now he’s lecturing people about ethical behavior?! These people have no shame….”
The letter was signed by 51 former intelligence officials, including Sipher, and released after the New York Post revealed the existence of the laptop, which Biden left at a Delaware computer repair shop, in October 2020.
It contained a trove of emails about Biden’s business dealings in China and Ukraine that implicated his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden.

The exchange between Sipher and Grenell appeared to be prompted by a tweet that called for Republicans - if they take control of Congress this year - to revoke the security clearance of all former intelligence community members who signed the Biden letter.

Grenell wound up being one of the biggest plesant surprises of the Trump admin.
I really like Mr. Grenell. He is a great Trump supporter and really really smart.
Obviously, John Sipher just simply hates gay men.
Sipher attacked Grenell because Grenell is gay and Sipher is a homophobic, lying piece of shit . .

They need to revoke the clearance of every ex-IC officer high or low who can’t tie the need to have a clearance to a classified contract! No courtesy clearances Period!
Not for liberals not for conservatives not for anyone unless there’s a legitimate contractual relationship that requires it.

Sipher is a CIPHER! The CIA IS A CORRUPT, EVIL DEPARTMENT! They haven’t gotten a thing right for DECADES!
Hard to argue with that! A lot of Democrats are just lying liars who lie - even (or perhaps especially) when they're nominally 'public servants'...
I do not buy into any of this "misinformation" and foreign election tampering bull crap. As side foreign money flowing into campaigns, I don't give a damn about what foreigners say or do not say. We can make up my own minds about that is true or not true. Just show us the evidence, and think the opposite of whatever the mainstream media says. That includes FoxNews.

Referring to Rick Grenell, that is very true. One of few in the world that didn’t leave a knife in President Trump’s back.

After the likes of turncoats Jeff Sessions and Mike Pence, it didn’t take too much to be a ray of sunshine.
I like him because he is ferocious in battle. I despise those that won’t fight back.
Grenell was a great public servant. Every job he had he demanded competence, transparency, and made sure everyone was working for the American citizen.
Use to see him on late night w/ Greg Gutfeld. Two things always stood out about him when he always had the facts of any argument/debate and he was always composed. Even if it was POS liberal throwing a hissy fit he never raised his voice or lost his train of thought. I know he would be better served in a bigger role, but I thought he would have been incredible as WH spokesman. I would pay to see him shred the Press Corp.
With the titanium backbone he has he would be a perfect Hercules type to clean out the Aegean stables of a big filth infested government agency.
