What the local sheriff called a "major industrial accident" led to a huge fire early Thursday at an ExxonMobil refinery in Baytown, Texas, near Houston.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted that "initial reports indicated some type of explosion occurred inside the plant."
He said there were apparently four people injured. Three were airlifted out and one was removed by ambulance.
Gonzalez said there didn't appear to be any need for anyone to evacuate or shelter-in-place.
ExxonMobil said in a statement that its "fire teams are working to extinguish the fire" and it was trying to account for everyone who might have been on-scene at the time.

price of gas doubles in 3 , 2 , 1 ,,,
Yes, I have noticed that when oil/gas prices go up, they spike instantly, and when they go down, they drift down very slowly.
I wonder why that might be?
Glad I filled up yesterday.
Heard $100 oil and laughed. Maybe I should reconsider
according to CNN, there are 4 different sites over a large campus, from chemicals to oil. Any word on where the explosion came from yet?
Happened at a Richmond, Ca refinery years ago. All these black folk showed up at the emergency room complaining of breathing problems as they tried to cash in.
An ill timed fart on a refinery production crew is good for ten cents a gallon. If I were an oil exec I’d set a fire on a vacant lot at a refinery once a week. Bring some media pukes to film it at a distance at keep jacking up that price.
How
very
unexpected.
Usually we don’t get these until Spring.
This isn’t the campus. This is Exxons Baytown refinery on the north side of the Houston ship channel west of the Fred Hartman bridge. Almost 600,000 barrels a day capacity.

Speculators.
Isn’t it a bit early for one of these? The traditional and customary time for refinery fires and subsequent gas price hikes is March through April. Greed always ruins these seasons.
This is all part of Bidens winter of desolation and death is coming plan.
Prayers for the injured.
Hopefully nobody has been killed.
Just like most things financial at least, elevator down and long stairway up.
Both events are fear and greed driven.
