I never watched a single episode of The Sopranos especially since my son said that he was embarrassed to be of Italian descent because Italians were troublemakers and criminals. I reminded him that my Italian-born relatives were upstanding law biding citizens and did not engage in criminal activities.

‘The Sopranos’ was a well-acted and well-written series. It was a masterpiece. But I always felt uncomfortable watching it - to the point that I eventually stopped.

More often than not the Soprano crew won. They were usually successful in intimidating innocents, and stealing everything they could. It was like watching a successful SS squad in action.

So yeah, I gotta agree with you.

The Sopranos is a great series. The protagonists in the Sopranos are criminals, but they are human, and as in most drama, bad people doing bad things drive the story along and illuminate human nature and the human predicament. The premise of the series is that mob criminality and lawlessness inevitably subvert their family life and their efforts to enjoy an affluent suburban lifestyle. Eventually, as the series progresses, the mob guys all die badly.

We loved the series, although we didn’t watch when it originally aired. Looking forward to the prequel!

The gangsters were better people than Democrats are, and more patriotic. I always have admired Americans with Italian heritage.
