The Real Story in Durham’s Indictment of Democratic Lawyer Michael Sussmann
National Review ^ | 9/16/21 | Andrew McCarthy

Posted on 09/18/2021 9:05:40 AM PDT by martin_fierro

The special counsel’s final report on the Clinton campaign’s manufacturing of the Trump–Russia collusion narrative will be very interesting reading.

There is a long game and a short game going on in special counsel John Durham’s indictment of Democratic Party lawyer Michael Sussmann on a false-statements count.

The short of it is this: A false statement was allegedly made by Sussmann to the FBI’s then-general counsel, James Baker, on September 19, 2016. In federal law, the false-statement crime has a five-year statute of limitations, meaning it had to be charged by this Sunday (September 19, 2021). Consequently, even if Durham would probably have preferred to wait until his full investigation was concluded before filing indictments, by delaying beyond Sunday, he would have lost what appears to be an eminently provable felony charge. If he was going to indict Sussmann on this conduct, it was now or never.

Now, more critically, the long game.

It is unusual for a one-count false-statement charge, which can be alleged in a paragraph, to be presented as a 27-page speaking indictment. But Durham wrote a highly detailed account of the facts and circumstances surrounding the false-statements charge. It is significant in that it tells us far more about his investigation.

Here is where the prosecutor appears to be going: ... x8

Andrew McCarthy article, so usually a worthwhile read -- National Review or no.

OTOH, Durham's sole indictment/conviction to date was that small-potatoes-little-turd Kevin Clinesmith, who got off with a mere slap on the wrist.

History shows that only those around the Clintons ever take the fall -- never the Clintons themselves.

Remember Andrew said he didn’t believe the FBI would have spied on the Trump Campaign?

This is the short game after 5 years? I doubt we will live long enough to see the long gone.

“Remember Andrew said he didn’t believe the FBI would have spied on the Trump Campaign?”

Anyone stating this belief has zero credibility.

There has been a lot of talk about the upcoming arrests of kabbal members.

You’re talking about waiting five or six years to destroy a criminal syndicate that started centuries ago.

The mind of a child needs instant gratification. If you’re a child, walk away from your device and go outside to play.

Mueller started tagging “perps” within months. You are happy to wait decades before anything is done. In the end nothing will be done because they damn sure don’t want to look like children pursuing instant gratification.

You’re exactly right.

Like Gowdy, Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio and scores of others. After shilling for the Deep State, they have no credibility at this point.

Clinesmith fabricated Documents and lied to defendant’s lawyer.

He got community service and still practices law!

I think that what people are missing is the Sussman was with Perkins Coie, otherwise known as “Satans Lawyers”. These asshats are the DNC primary lawfirm. They were the same slime that invaded AZ and GA for the election fraud. If Durham is headed in Perkins Coie direction, then the road is heading right into the heart of darkness, aka the Clinton Crime Family. Haven’t lost hope in Durham.....yet.

I got the same message even though it wouldn’t let me read this article, it kicked me to the main site when I rejected the subscription popup. Apparently the number of allowed free articles is zero.

Andrew said he didn’t believe the FBI would have spied on the Trump Campaign?”

They couldn't have had time. They were too busy supressing any evidence or investigation of perps in the Larry Nasser affair.

Many years ago lots of people thought the FBI wasn’t a corrupt bunch of ‘liberal elite’ butt kissers.

Now we know. When a liberal elite says to an FBI agent, “DO YOU KNOW HOW I AM’ - the agent pulls out his knee pads, kneels and hears the zipper coming down...

Mueller’s a fake. Durham is real.

The point about instant gratification was not about what motivates Durham to do his job. He doesn’t think like a millennial debating anonymously on the internet.

I was simply telling you to avoid the need for instant gratification.

If it could be said that there was only one event that physically occurred in all the universe during 2016 to 2017—other than Trump being elected—it was the FBI spying on the Trump campaign.
