2015: "The Insane Vaccine Debate"
The Federalist ^ | FEBRUARY 3, 2015 | Ben Domenech

Posted on 09/11/2021 9:46:42 AM PDT by Mr Rogers

The issue of mandatory vaccination is once again an item of debate in media circles given the recent outbreaks in measles, and fueled this week by the continued inability of politicians to discuss vaccination policy without sounding like anti-science fools....

The current vaccine debate, unlike those prior ones, is actually motivated by a real problem (the return of diseases presumed previously eradicated) as opposed to conspiratorial musings....But vaccination is not about protecting the vaccinated so much as it is about protecting others from disease-carriers. Vaccines are properly understood not on the basis of narrow self-interest but as a defense of the human species.

Fundamentally, the protection against life-threatening plague is one of the original reasons government exists...

If you choose not to vaccinate, private and public institutions should be able to discriminate on that basis. Disneyland should be able to require proof of vaccination as a condition of entry, and so should public schools. You shouldn’t be compelled to vaccinate your child, but neither should the rest of us be compelled to pretend like you did....

If the decline in MMR vaccination continues, perhaps the federal government could take the step of making access to the child tax credit contingent upon vaccination. If we’re going to have redistributive social engineering in the tax code, it may as well be for children who aren’t carrying disease around Disneyland....

Ben Domenech is the publisher of The Federalist.

Another one bites the dust! What IDIOT believes "vaccination is not about protecting the vaccinated so much as it is about protecting others from disease-carriers"? You might as well claim others need to wear rain coats because your raincoat only works when others wear them too!

From Wiki: "Ben Domenech (born January 1, 1982)[1] is an American writer, blogger, editor, and television commentator. He is the co-founder and publisher of The Federalist, host of The Federalist Radio Hour, and writes The Transom, a daily subscription newsletter for political insiders. He also co-founded the RedState group blog."

I would LOVE to believe this is satire, but...someone PLEASE show me this article was supposed to be funny. Please? Because it sure isn't!

Full disclosure: I chose to be vaccinated last spring. PS: Searched titles and didn't see this posted. Sorry if I missed a previous thread.

The issue is whether or not you own your body.

If we do not own our bodies then we should just sit there like vegetables and wait for the state to tell us what to do next.

BTW: The date of the article shows “FEBRUARY 3, 2015” although it is currently posted on the Federalist website. It reads like something written in 2015 that the Federalist chose to republish now. Either date wouldn’t matter if this is the nonsense the Federalist is publishing.

And I would LOVE to be in error here! I like reading The Federalist.

It’s his opinion and just as valid as any other. I’m capable of sorting out which opinions I agree with and which I don’t and contrary to many FReepers demands, I believe in a free society where no point of view is cancelled or censored. That’s the reason we have brains.

The man running the federalist is an idiot.

If you are not vaccinated (and you did not already successfully beat a Covid19 infection) you are not taking a risk except for yourself and maybe someone else who is not vaccinated.

But even then, the vast majority (90+%) are not at a fatal risk because the Covid19 is not a fatal risk to more than 90+% of the population.

It would be better if society fully sheltered & vaccinated all the vulnerable - the very elderly and those with comorbidities, and then set about achieving herd immunity in the rest of the population, by way of asymptomatic and otherwise non-fatal infections.

You might as well claim others need to wear rain coats because your raincoat only works when others wear them too!

There's something even more sinister, in that, the more government becomes involved in paying for health care, the greater the desire to coerce individuals into doing no end of things to themselves, in the name of protecting the interests of those who are paying.

One day they’ll mandate the Thanos vaccine... and these fkn evil clowns will tell us it’s OUR responsibility to THEM.

Socialism, statism, collectivism demands YOU take some action to make THEIR lives safe or better. It’s on US to sacrifice to THEIR wishes in order to make them whole.

This will fail as many people will rather die or see them dead (or both) than comply.

The Republicans Trashed The Unvaccinated Before They Trashed Joe Biden After He Trashed The Unvaccinated.

The videos of Kay Ivey in Alabama in July and Brad Little in Idaho last month the GOP governors are out there.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=mo0Mv4tyoUI

Mitch McConnell himself spoke a few months back, too trashing the unvaxxed.

“Right” versus “Left” what’s the difference its “Freedom” versus “Tyranny” now and note the GOP are playing a game to saying things on both sides of the “Freedom-Tyranny Divide”

This is how he’s making his decisions?

“A super PAC supporting the president conducted polling in August that tested support for large companies requiring their employees to get vaccinated in five battleground states — Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin — that went for Biden after voting for Donald Trump in 2016. It was favored by a solid majority of voters in all five of the states. A separate AP/NORC poll shared widely by Biden aides and advisers on Twitter Friday found strong support for vaccine mandates across several corporate and government sectors.”

We have had lengthy discussions around here about how difficult it is to conduct accurate polls in the age of the cell phone.

One issue most polls ignore is how strongly people feel about an issue—and of course the exact wording of the question has major effects on the outcome.

Ouija boards probably provide more accurate data.
