The Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers, led by superstar LeBron James, reportedly voted to boycott the rest of the NBA playoffs.
According to Shams Charania, lead NBA writer for The Athletic, James walked out of a hastily-called players meeting when other team representatives said they would not join.
However, Mr. Charania reported, other players realize that even if just those two teams boycott the season, enormous problems would be created in finishing the playoffs.
“Sources: Miami’s Udonis Haslem spoke and essentially told everyone in room that — without Lakers and Clippers, how will season continue? LeBron James walked out. Rest of Lakers and Clippers exited behind him,” Mr. Charania wrote.
The Lakers and Clippers were the two best teams in the Western Conference during the regular season and were poised to win their first-round series in the next day or two.
However, all three of Wednesday’s playoff games were cancelled after the teams, led by the Milwaukee Bucks, refused to play because of the police shooting of a Black man in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
As a result, the players on all the teams in the “bubble” in Orlando, Florida, held a meeting Wednesday evening to discuss the next move.
According to Mr. Charania, James wants more social activism from the owners, who already have gone in hard in supporting Black Lives Matter and other left-leaning protest groups.
“LeBron James said in meeting he want owners to be more involved/take action,” Mr. Charania wrote.
He also reported that players on others teams who opposed boycotting the rest of the season thought the Bucks had put them in an awkward position without advance notice.

any team that refuses to play any game or games should have those games listed in their stats as forfeit

Maybe these nitwits should focus on cleaning up their own house. They can do what they want, but as for me I’ll BOYCOTT the NBA now and in the future.
They are foregoing their paychecks too, right? Right?
I hate NBA basketball. Never watch it.
I guess the take away is the actions of leftists have absolutely nothing to do with the thing they are protesting.
I thought they wanted to wear arm bands and kneel at games to protest shootings.
Now they won’t even play, and no one will see their protests. Their fans are being “punished” because a shooting took place on the streets?
All we’re really seeing is racism on display. Something happens to someone with black skin and they react by bringing society down.
Whether there is a boycott or the NBA is in full operation, I still going to watch the same number of games: None.
I used to love playing basketball.
It was ruined by inner city Blacks arguing over everything every 2 or 3 minutes. “Foul n****!” “That ain’t no foul n****!” etc.
Now I play co-ed volleyball. No arguing, just fun with “suburban” people.
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
(Unless the NBA collective bargaining agreement allows for player “boycotts,” the NBA and the owners of the Lakers and Clippers should file an unfair labor charge with the NLRB by the end of the day.)
I guess if they are refusing to play. The rest of the teams should carry on.
The NBA should punish the teams for it. They can tell them no playoffs for the next 3 years for the players no matter what team they play on. Only for the players though that did this.
But we are a college basketball family. Now we read the Big East teams will be wearing BLM type patches, so we will be boycotting them.
I see now this is a shakedown of the owners to make them do “more” to support radical causes.
I love a good suicide, I just wish they would speed it up, maybe they should show Americans how they really feel, and BURN THE FLAG during the National Anthem
No games, no revenue, no paychecks. Works for me. These morons have the IQ of a turnip.
