CORONAVIRUS is not as deadly as was thought and the public fear that is stopping the country returning to normal is unfounded, a leading expert says. Carl Heneghan, Professor of Evidence-based medicine at Oxford University, called for the government to intervene and "proactively reassure the population".
He said exaggerated fears of Covid have led to "people going about their daily lives misunderstanding and overestimating their risk”.
And he said introducing local lockdowns could do more harm than good by forcing people into their homes, potentially infecting other vulnerable people that live with them.
Professor Heneghan - whose work led to a lowering of the official death toll after he revealed Covid deaths were being counted even if someone had subsequently died of other causes - spoke as he released new data revealing the infection fatality rate had fallen from 2-3 per cent in the height of the pandemic to 0.3.
He said if the downward trend continues the pandemic may end up no worse than a bad flu season.
Reasons for the fall, he said, could not only be down to the consequences of lockdown because cases are continuing to drop despite society opening up.

I think the fatality rate was always about 0.3%. The erroneous calculations appear to be intentional to cause panic.

President Trump should make Professor Carl Heneghan part of his Coronavirus team. Heneghan could counter the BS coming from Fascist Fauci and Bolshevik Birx.
Where did the exaggerated fears come from? From the government/media hysteria that started in March. The democrats saw an opportunity within seconds of finding out about the disease. They would shut the country down, crash Trump’s economy and blame it on him, keep people glued to their TVs to find out about the chinese virus. They they would introduce a stealth candidate and use the virus as an excuse to show him ONLY through carefully edited videos.
Yup. This, and other accounts confirm the numbers are BS. Yet the sheep keep posting all this worthless crap all over the internet, including here. Talk about a copy-cat, herd mentality. It’s pathetic.

The damage has already been done. I just spent a day socially distanced outside with a good friend yesterday. She will only go back to the old normal once there’s a vaccine. It doesn’t matter what I try to tell her about the numbers. She doesn’t believe me. She believes whatever Lester Holt has been saying.
She’s still pro-Trump, but she is firmly in the camp that only a vaccine, not even therapeutics, will bring relief. She will only trust a vaccine. I ask her what happens if they don’t find a vaccine? She says, oh, they will, it will be here before the winter gets here.
I can only shake my head. I’m through with trying to talk common sense anymore. People’s minds are made up.
