HF hand tools and impact sockets have done very well by me.

I could never see buying their jackstands or things I actually have to trust.

The pic shows a failed weld. It’s not at all surprising coming from China.

Harbor Freight is junk that even WalMart won’t sell.

I’ve heard enough horror stories about Harbor Freight to stay away.

I’ve got two versions from HF: One is based on metal pipe stock and has three legs. The other is cast iron, with four legs.

Neither are particularly strong, but the four-legger appears especially strong in comparison. No failures, but the 3-legger can be set up to tip the car over!

I bet they just welded and repainted the defective jackstands and put them right back in the stores.

I've used one of these for decades.

Too bad they are no longer in production.

It's WAY more adjustable than most safety stands.

I used one of their 10mm crowfoot on a balky stud. It stripped right out. I had an old Craftsman of the same size - didn’t bite the stud as well (only on 2 sides), but it was high-quality steel (the Craftsman) on high-quality steel (a non-UAW car). I thought something would give, but it broke loose. That was it for their tools, at least as far as I’m concerned. Now I look for stuff with 4.5 stars and 500+ reviews on Amazon...so far, so good.

As far as jack stands go, I try to not go under vehicles unless they have the tires on, and being in Texas, you can fit under any car with its tires on (as it’s not legal to drive anything lower). If I do go under with one or more tires off, then, jack stand or not, I slip one of those tires under the car, in case it somehow comes loose. Better than nothing.

I will not buy anything from Harbor Freight.

I used to buy a lot of stuff there, but no more ever again.

Harbor Freight had a coupon in one of their flyers for a free digital multimeter. Must have been slave-produced.

I claimed mine and it seems to be working well so far.

Maybe the CCP was dumping them to kick any US mfgr left (Fluke) in the gonads.

China is the Japan of the Twenty First Century.   Made in Japan used to be poor quality until Edwards Deming went there and thought Japanese companies quality control methods and procedures to the point that they were better than American in many cases.   There is no hope for change until the Communists wake up and accept that the profit motive is a good thing.

If you’re buying stuff from harbor freight then that’s your problem. They sell cheap crap.

Who would buy these from Harbor Freight? Someone with a death wish, perhaps.

There are some things it is perfectly fine to get there. I got a nice bench vise for cheaper than elsewhere. Their clamps work and are very cheap. I bought a cheap oscillating tool there to see if I needed one. Lasted 2 years before burning out,and only cost $30.

I would not buy anything safety related there, but it's a nice place to pick up an odd tool that I may need for just a single job, and if it lasts longer, great. If not, no problem.

Anywhere to get hose nozzles and hises that last more than 2 weeks? I used to expect (silly me) more than one season...then it became at least a season...now...6 weeks would be a miracle.

I'm a Heavy-duty technician. No way I'd trust a harbor freight critical tool.

I pay a lot more for my tools from my vendors, but I can trust them.
