TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TURNS DOWN REQUEST TO PAY FOR MINNEAPOLIS RIOTS
Power ^ | 11 Jul, 2020 | JOHN HINDERAKER

In a letter dated July 2, Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz asked–pleaded with–the Federal Emergency Management Agency for money to help pay for the damages caused by rioters and arsonists in Minneapolis. Walz’s letter is disingenuous in its description of how $500,000,000 in destruction came about:

The resources of local, tribal, county and state governments were already stretched thin due to our ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, all levels of government surged available resources for immediate response to preserve life and safety and to protect property and infrastructure from additional damage.

Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, under Governor Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, Minnesota and Minneapolis have among the most dysfunctional governance in the United States. For the true story of how sheer incompetence on the part of Frey and Walz facilitated the rioting, looting and arson for which Walz is now seeking reimbursement from taxpayers in other states, see the article in the upcoming issue of Thinking Minnesota by John Phelan and Tom Steward that is embedded below.

Today the Star Tribune reports that Walz’s funding request has been denied:

The governor’s spokesman, Teddy Tschann, confirmed late Friday that the request for federal aid was denied.

“The Governor is disappointed that the federal government declined his request for financial support,” Tschann said in a statement. “As we navigate one of the most difficult periods in our state’s history, we look for support from our federal government to help us through.”

Countdown until some marxist judge tries to reverse Trump’s decision. Trump must not budge on this. He should ridicule them and those who voted for them and their insane ideas.

Does Trump have absolute control over any federal funding, or can Congress step into the matter?

I think he was asking for 15 million, which won’t do much good for the 1500 businesses damaged.

Probably none of that would have gone to those businesses anyway.

No way should we here in Florida or any state have to pay for the crap that goes on in Minnesota or Seattle.
Ya all let it happen, live with it.

Great! Trump will not be made a fool of! The administration of Minneapolis did nothing to stop the destruction by subversive groups and so is responsible for the damage.

You shoot looters, those assaulting people, those who throw fire bombs.

May I suggest Minneapolis cell phone, cable, car insurance and utility bill taxes to help pay for the damage.

Only if the culprits and their supporters have to chip in will bad behavior be discouraged.

We cannot ever pay for such damages. It would incentivize destroying an already blighted area and getting taxpayers in other states to pay to fix it (with most of the funds likely disappearing).

Imagine,(many of us don't have to), that your city "leaders" are setting your business up for destruction for a taxpayer payout instead of these "leaders" actively working to support you.

These cities and states need to be taught a lesson that their hypocrisy about Socialist causes is all fun and games until they have to pay for it. Why not report the cost per rioter per resident every day, just like they report the weather?

Thank you President Trump for refusing to aid and abet domestic terrorists.

“...I suggest that Minn. tax BLM....”

I think many would be shocked to find out how much money is being poured into BLM, et al, by domestic and foreign anti-American sources. Troublemakers for hire.

BLM with its newly found 100s of millions of dollars should be billed.

It is entirely the local, Democrat government’s fault the looting, rioting and destruction got as far as it did.

I also suspect a lot of those businesses that were destroyed aren’t coming back.

Seems like the DNC should pay for their own political rallies.

No way the innocent taxpayers in Obama’s other 56 states should pay for racist gangster riots encouraged and enabled by the commie politician hacks in the D party or DFL machine. They can GTH!

Once they haul away the burned rubble, imagine the many very nice green spaces they will have in the inner city. Much of Detroit is returning to nature as it was before it was a city.

We pay 13 billion annually for National Guard salaries. Just the salaries— nothing else. If that faggot didn’t use his Guard, we shouldn’t be paying for the damages.

“The Governor was disappointed in Trump’s response for aid”......”

1500 building owners & thousands of employees in Minneapolis are MORE than ‘Disappointed’ in the response of Minnesota officials.

Insurance companies will NOT be paying for all that damage, either.

Buildings in Watts are still NOT replaced-—55 years. NO insurance company will even cover the contractor while under construction.
