'Rumors Of War' In Richmond Marks A Monumentally Unequal America
NPR ^ | June 25, 2020 | Susam Stamberg

It's raining statues all across America. Artworks that have stood in public places for generations are being defaced or deposed, destroyed or relocated, as Americans confront attitudes on race and stereotyping.

Richmond, Va., has been an epicenter of the controversy. Its most prominent city symbols — a procession of sculpted Civil War leaders — just sparked protests for days. The statues stand near the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, where a contemporary sculpture by Kehinde Wiley reminds that Black lives not only matter, they can create powerful, stunning works of art. Wiley, a 43-year-old African American artist, is best known for painting an official portrait of President Barack Obama at the National Portrait Gallery.

Can a bunch of us pull down this statue because we are offended by it? As Peter Hitchens wrote it is not only what is being pulled down, but what is going to put up as replacements.

When Susan Stamberg was on All Things Considered every night for about 15 years back in the '70s and '80s, she never once mentioned the horrible racist statues or the "monumentally unequal" America that funded her soapbox.

I know this because I was a loyal, avid listener to her show (along with Noah Adams) back then. There was almost no politics in it.

Why hasn’t the Lenin statue in Seattle been pulled down or blown up yet? It offends millions of patriotic Americans.

NPR seems to think that the answer to racism is...racism.

What do you expect from a piece written by Susan Stamberg for npr? Leftist drivel.

Why don’t the patriots take down the Wiley statue to give the terrorists a taste of their own medicine? Sometimes payback is a cure.

Look at this “illustrator’s” (like Norman Rockwell called himself an illustrator... but not this afri-clown”.

“Rumors of War” monument-— when viewed properly is WAY out of proportion the rider and horse. And the “subject” is not a real person from any history, so this is the “correct” art.

Ton ton Macoutes. Same talentless clown who did obamaumao in the leafy fold (again piss poor perspective management— a rather basic skill for a so called portraitist). This is all shite, frankly. Art that is “mandated” is classic SOVIET crapola. Tear this ugly monstrosity down, and btw— take out that idiotic giant headed “sculpture” in the Capitol of Sen. Byrd. Seriously tacky.

No NPR believes the answer is socialism, socialists always believe socialism is the answer because they believe they will be included in the elites at the top not with everyone else at the bottom serving them.

I’m surprised none of the protesters has done so already.

I realize the focus right now is on the freed-slave-purchased and commissioned statue of Lincoln in DC. Because white democrats still hate black people, and want to remove anything black people supported.

“Why hasn’t the Lenin statue in Seattle been pulled down or blown up yet? “

Old white guy. Killed millions of oppressed people including many people of color. They’ll probably get to it. They can’t possibly let that kind of statue stand!

At the least, Lenin’s hands should be constantly
painted RED. The fact his statue hasn’t been toppled
just shows where these morons are coming from.
