How Beautiful We Were
by VANDERLEUN on JUNE 23, 2020
A short list. In no particular order.
We told our children that any child could grow up to be President. And then we made it come true.
We had car shows, boat shows, beauty shows and dog shows.
We ran robots on the surface of Mars by remote control.
Our women came from all over the world in all shapes and sizes and hues and scents.
We actually believed that all men are created equal and tried to make it come true.
Everybody liked our movies and loved our television shows.
We tried to educate everybody, whether they wanted it or not. Sometimes we succeeded.
We did Levis.
We held the torch high and hundreds of millions came. No matter what the cost.
We saved Europe twice and liberated it once.
We believed so deeply and so abidingly in free speech that we protected and honored and, in some cases, even elected traitors.
We let you be as freaky as you wanted to be.
We paid you not to plant crops and not to work.
We died in the hundreds of thousands to end slavery here. And when that was done continued to fight to end slavery for a century and a half after all around the world.
We invented Jazz.
We wrote the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Gettysburg address.
We went to the moon to see how far we could hit a golf ball.
We lifted a telescope into orbit that could see to the edge of the universe.
When people snuck into the country against our laws, we made parking lots and food stands off to the side of the road so they wouldnt get hurt, and we let them use our hospitals for free, and we made their children citizens.
We didnt care what God you worshipped as long as we could worship ours.
We let the People arm themselves at will. Just to make sure.
We gave everybody the vote.
We built Disneyworld. Just for fun.
We had a revolution so successful it was still going strong two and a quarter centuries later.
We had so many heroes, even at the end, that we felt free to hate them and burn them in effigy.
We electrified the guitar.
We invented a music so compelling that it rocked the world.
We had some middling novelists.
We had some interesting painters.
We had some pretty good poets.
We had better songwriters.
We ran our farms so well we fed the globe.
We made the automobile and the airplane.
We let you get rich. Really, really rich.
We didnt care who you were or what you were or where you came from or who your parents were. We just cared about what you made or what you did.
We had poor people who, even at their most wretched, were richer than any other poor people on the face of the planet.
We were the noblest nation the world had ever known.
We had so much freedom that many of us voted to just throw it all away.
Even towards the end, as we dissolved into the petty bickering and idle entertainments that come with having far too much leisure and money, many among us were still striving to make it higher, finer, brighter, better, and more beautiful.
Even towards the end, the best of us declined to give up and pressed on. Where to? What next?
If you want to keep this you better get ready to fight for it.
L
...and as weird as it sounds making allies of our friends south of the border no longer sounds like a bad thing to me.
We had a great run.
“We didnt care what God you worshipped as long as we could worship ours.”
Big mistake.
Indeed.
We did Levis ???
Don't give up yet. Try Article V , the Convention of States first. Article V was put into the Constitution by the same people who made the Constitution because they knew the day would come when power became centralized in the District of Criminals. Be thankful we have that reset button!
We were the noblest nation the world had ever known.
Indeed.
All that’s left when freedom fails
Good men rot in filthy jails
And all who cried “Appease! Appease!
Are hanged by those they tried to please.
Oh good grief were not done.
If youre going to wilt like a flower at the first riots like this its no wonder America is collapsing.
Weve already HAD a civil war and this great nation survived that and Federal Roosevelt.
All we need to do is stand up and push back.
We told our children that any child could grow up to be President. And then we made it come true.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And abrogated the Constitution in the process.
Not every child is a natural born citizen and only natural born citizens are eligible to be President.
Obama was such a disaster one would think that would have been enough, but even here on the premier conservative website we have people advocating to violate the Constitution AGAIN with their favorite anchor baby.
Also free exercise isnt just about worship. It appears in a document about creating and regulating a government, and in an amendment that from first to last is about the right of people to engage their society and its government,
It, to be blunt, exist to protect political activism even in the pulpit, to prevent the government from ever saying some venue or some circumstance is not a proper place for people to come together. There are no private things vs public things under the 1st, no motives for engaging in politics that the government can delegitimization.
The idea that faith shouldnt influence men in the public domain is something out of the disastrous French Revolution, not the American.
Side note: these private things that shouldnt intrude on public things twits sure dont seek to limit people dragging us all to hell for the sake of their Faggotry and sexual confusion.
“Side note: these private things that shouldnt intrude on public things twits sure dont seek to limit people dragging us all to hell for the sake of their Faggotry and sexual confusion.”
Don’t save the kill-shot for a side note! Well said, all of it.
Put another way:
Why is it ok to bring private things into public view when it has to do with sexuality, and not ok when it has to do with faith?
Bob Hope once joked about leaving California before homosexuality became mandatory.
It isnt just into public view but to be enforced by public policy.
The licentious twits in our so-called culture have elevated what people do with their genitals to the end all be all of the pursuit of happiness and at the same time pushed down almost everything else to not really being same pursuit ... so those who lust most to regulate and control every nuance of live exempt their sexual escapades from any and all of their reasonable regulations.
Sad....
