The Bachelor franchise is taking steps to fix its diversity issues.
On Friday after Matt James was named the first black Bachelor in the history of the ABC series the show's executive producers released a statement acknowledging "the lack of representation of people of color on our franchise" and pledging to "make significant changes."

Aren’t “people of color” incredibly superior to people of pallor? Why don’t they demonstrate it by being too dignified to participate in “The Bachelor” and similar drivel?
As I stated before, if you look at the universe of these shows African-Americans might be “over-represented”. I have so far never seen an Asian male on these shows.
I’ve never watched it. Never will.
The simple fact is that many people aren’t attracted to potential partners of another race. Of course our media masters are working overtime to change this; in particular, they’re promote the white woman / black man combo. Maybe “The Bachelor” should have an all-Asian or all-black episode.
We used to watch this show in the beginning. However, we couldnt get over the groping and sexual perversions like the shack ups toward the end
Of the shows. Never watch it any longer, and for us thats a good thing.
I watched it a couple of times when it first appeared and found it unspeakably vulgar and manipulative — of both participants and viewers.
There are massive differences in interracial relationships based on race and gender. A black man is much more likely to be in an interracial relationship than a black women. The reverse is true for Asians.
Yep. It has to do with notions of masculinity and femininity, and who has ‘em and who doesn’t. Asian men are the losers on the masculinity scale, and black females on the feminity scale. So terribly unfashionable . . .
does BET have an equivalent show?
Only white so far. The show is raunchy. They have a hideaway bunker for the contestants to have sex. Keep in mind they just meet each other and in days or less when they are having sex. The guy will have sex with 20 of the girls at least during the run of the show. American entertainment today.
If we were the left, wed burn that studio down to the ground. Instead we just talk shit on FR.
It’s a stupid show that (along with the Bachelorette) that glorifies and promotes promiscuity...doubt that will change with more “diversity.” How about having better taste and cancelling it? Nah, can’t do that.
Yes, exactly.
More likely, you will go off the air sooner rather than later.
They would always put a few tokens on - and the would always be gone by week two. Reinforcing the ancient truth that people prefer to date and marry within their own race and culture - anathema to to the collectivists.
DW watches these shows (Bachelor, Bachelorette, Paradise, and the Listen To Your Heart one-off). Last few seasons have had numerous non-white contestants. I believe only the two main shows have not had non-white Bachelors/Bachelorettes. Lots of black girls on Bachelor, Paradise, and several on the Heart show. Numerous black guys on Bachelorette, Paradise, and a couple on Heart. In fact, a black guy won Listen To Your Heart; he was a really good musician. Ended up with a white girl. Several Asian girls (no guys so far; RACIST!), a few Hispanic guys and girls.
IMHO, the percentages are about right for the overall population. The only omission is the two big shows, and them not having non-white Bachelor or Bachelorette.
As noted, inter-racial couples are rare; most people aren’t attracted to partners outside their own ethnicity.
I’m holding out for the lesbian version.
Gives a whole new meaning to “Yo babe, make me a sammich.”.
The Bachelor and Bachelorette are the two most worthless programs on TV......The contestants are nothing more than Hollywood wannabes.........
Why dont they demonstrate it by being too dignified to participate in The Bachelor
Some people have to take what they can get network sees cash cow.
