There is a drawback. Wherever you use it is going to stink to high heaven for two weeks or more. Also, front line good guys are going to get “skunked” too. There is a proprietary soap that somewhat neutralizes it but you still stink, just not as bad.
No offense, but 2-3 tenths of an ounce of anything isn’t going to do much of anything more than a few few away, purely physics.
Well, you could. I suppose the ones shot with lead though are too dead to answer.
Not disinformation, a sincere warning.
Do what you like, have a good attorney on speed-dial, and LOTS of money for defense.
Yep, it stinks up whatever it touches. It is bad. Conditions may call for it though.
Oh, yes. Rock salt is much more effective than rubber bullets are in getting someones attention. But using rock salt is an escalation. Are we there yet? Maybe.
What makes this situation so damn messy is that unlike with previous riots, Antifa is now involved. They just might meet any escalation with their own escalation. Weve seen some of that already, with cops getting shot.
Plus youve got these governors and mayors criticizing every last thing the police are doing.
Im NOT saying that the police shouldnt escalate. What I am saying is that all ramifications should be considered. But then do what you gotta do.
I got blasted with rock salt once when I was around 15, me and some friends were in a farmers field cow tipping and got caught. I happened to be the lucky kid closest to the farmer (about 30 or 40 ft) and took it to my back......the sound of that shotgun blast and then the immediate burning pain sent me running full speed home to my very angry father. Not only did I get to enjoy the pain of having pieces of melting rock salt dug out of my back, I also got my ass whooped for trespassing in the farmers field, I also got it for my dad getting woken up after midnight by the farmer. Good times good times.
I got shot in the ass when I was 15 with a group of friends trying to steal from a farmers crop of corn...LOL needless to say I never did that again.
A friend of mine got shot full of salt stealing crop from a farmer as a teen. They wont stop meth heads in your living room sure, but they're not meant to. Salt is for keeping the dumb ass kids of your property without having to kill them.
Oh yes. My older brothers and sisters and their friends would put on multiple layers of jeans and jackets prior to raiding the watermelon patches between the citrus trees in Ventura County. More than once they were shot by the farmer guarding his watermelon patch. It was known that even being in the vicinity of the patch was cause for rock salt. Very effective.
22LR is very accurate, LEOs could easily target unprotected flesh, but unless it were detuned to a lower kinetic energy it could inflict very serious damage. Like someone else said, better to uses brains instead of violence.
Most of these protests are targeting Democrat controlled districts where the politicians do not act to stop the terrorists. This is meant to hurt President Trump.
Yep, “warning shots” will get your ass in the clink most of the time. If you don’t need to shoot, dont shoot—if you do the do it like you mean it.
Are you suggesting we execute people in the streets?
What about our Constitution? I’m an Oath Keeper. ALL enemies, etc.
Tone it down. I want them tried first and THEN executed.
We need some "premeditated intent" to stop rioters/looters, don't you think?
I think when designing the stink they modeled the olfactory particles given off by this stuff on rotting carrion and human poop. Instinctively these smells lead to revulsion. It is no accident that is what it smells like.
good idea, but don’t mention watermelons. :)
“...Very effective deterrent. A few old people left who know about his will tell you so....”
Yep. I’ve been hit with it out of a 12 gauge when I was about 14-15 years old while raiding some guy’s garden with a bunch of friends. Three of us caught it in the lower buttocks and upper back of the thighs. It is an excruciating burning pain as the salt literally melts in the shallow wounds. I ended up in the ER where they pulled out what was left of each piece of salt. I could barely sit down for weeks after that. Then, I faced charges for trespassing, etc. My parents said that it served me right and was a good lesson. I’m now almost 70 and remember it like it was yesterday. Times were definitely different back then, but yeah, a good, heavy load of rock salt to the azz would work wonders for these idiots.
Thanks for telling the truth. You folks who oppose me on such matters...really need to back off. Let me leave it at that.
By the way, I really did NOT like your response, but defend your right to make it. If you’re gonna shoot, shoot. Don’t talk. ~ Tuco. Let’s just agree to disagree and leave each other alone.
Use Mace/Pepper spray/Tear gas, stun-guns, water cannon for the most part.
My wife asked yesterday why they weren’t using water cannons and fire hoses on the rioters. I told her probably because the first thing that would come up would be film from Selma and Birmingham during the 60’s of the police using fire hoses on the racial protesters. Really Bad Optics.
Random comments that cannot be verified are pointless.
I’ve witnesses the results firsthand and they were almost pointless.
I’d suggest you do as in the video and load some and try it out yourself.
If that is not feasible, take some #8 shot and shoot it at something 50’ away and see how much penetration you get. #8 will penetrate far more and at further ranges than soemthign with the mass of rock salt.
Not trying to be disagreeable, just prevent people form doing soemthign that could get them in major trouble or killed.
Funny how it takes folks a long time some times to realize I tell the truth. The longer it takes you to figure it out, the longer you suck.
