Patients in the control arm were much more likely to die within the first three to five days in the ICU than were the patients on vitamin C. The mortality benefit associated with vitamin C seemed to continue for the duration of the ICU course, says Dr. Duggal.
Vitamin C is an anti-oxident. Good for many things health wise. You cant take in too much. No downside to taking it.
Yes...wonder what it would do for corona virus??? I take 10,000 a day at least...
Dr. Mercola has been saying this for a while on his website - a protocol of IV Vit C, thiamine and hydrocortisone for sepsis.
unless taken orally then it can lead to a serious need for bathroom facilities.
You actually can take too much, such that a counter-inflammatory response is created.
Everything needs to be balanced; here there is severe inflammation, so high dose is indicated.
In normal life, about 500mg/day is probably right, although some say up to 1000/mg divided into two doses is good.

Quite a bit, I suppose. It is the reason I have posted the information.
Prevention Through Public Education and Natural Product Utilization (Excerpt)
People with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), SARS, and cytokine storms, do best when treated with a variety of antioxidants. Nathens et al showed that critically ill patients treated with vitamin C and E antioxidants suffered fewer multi-organ failures than others treated without these vitamins.
According to Heyland et al, antioxidants, particularly selenium, lowered death rates among critical care patients. DeFlora et al., showed that nutritional supplementation with N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC), a precursor of the antioxidant glutathione, significantly reduced flu patients’symptoms.
Lock and other medical doctors published that acetaminophen or paracetamol (Tylenol, Panadol) depletes glutathione in the body, while ibuprofen (motrin) does not. . . “

Dr. Mercola. Yes. Thank you for reminding me.
I have not kept up on these items for the last year or two, and so was not aware that the sepsis protocol was now being used and discussed.

It is helpful to see a link to remain current.

Linus Pauling, et al, would disagree.
