Vitamin C is an anti-oxident. Good for many things health wise. You cant take in too much. No downside to taking it.

You actually can take too much, such that a counter-inflammatory response is created.
Everything needs to be balanced; here there is severe inflammation, so high dose is indicated.
In normal life, about 500mg/day is probably right, although some say up to 1000/mg divided into two doses is good.
