The Kremlin reacted with fury on Tuesday after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Soviet collusion with Nazi Germany led to the outbreak of World War II.
While visiting Poland on Monday to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz death camp, Zelensky said the Poles were the first to feel the consequences of the criminal collusion of the totalitarian regimes.
Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union invaded and carved up Poland in September 1939 under a secret clause of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. The Nazi invasion prompted Britain and France to declare war on Germany.
We categorically disagree with this statement, Russian President Vladimir Putins spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, accusing Zelensky of backing the highly erroneous position of Poland on the historical events. The Soviet collaboration with the Nazis remains highly sensitive in the ex-Soviet bloc and frequently crops up in political rhetoric.
Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the Russian parliaments upper house, accused Zelensky of betraying the Ukrainians who helped liberate Europe and delivering a blow to Russian-Ukrainian ties.
Last month, Putin accused Poland of colluding with Hitler and contributing to the outbreak of World War II, sparking new tensions between Moscow and Warsaw.

Poland would probably yell out, hell yes they did!
Fact.
Had the Nazis invaded Britain instead of the Soviet Union, the Soviet Union would have sided with the Nazis.
Only when the Nazis invaded Russia, the Russians went to the Brits and said, “Me and you are pals, right, ol’ buddy!”
Russia, Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was real.
With it you must deal...........
I don’t know what the problem is, Vladimir. The Soviet Union is defunct, right? Vladimir? Hello?

So the Russians dont like having reality pointed out to them?
Tough noogies.
Go figure...
You-know-who to show up in 3..2..1 to defend the Soviets.
The Ukrainians are, mostly, virulent anti-Semites. They despise the Jews.
President Zelensky is Jewish.
Yes, they did. And it was a stupid thing to say.
Zelensky should probably keep his mouth shut. Ukrainian Lviv was in the part of Poland Stalin got in the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact. Does he propose giving Lvov back to Poland?
One can make a lot of interesting observations about Ukrainians. First, they are usually a bit crazy. But nice. Attractive women but again, crazy. Used to all hate Russians. Now it’s 50/50. Don’t like Jews or Poles.
And again, crazy.
All stated in a friendly way.
Having had a good Ukrainian friend in college, I immediately recognized Lt. Col. Vindman as an arrogant momma’s boy obsessed with everything Ukrainian.
Zelensky was there.

Zelensky is Jewish and no one said this whole Ukraine thing is anti semitic? Unbelievable.
I understand that. He’s a secular Jew who didn’t flaunt his religion during the campaign. That does not change the fact that there are numerous very active neo-Nazi groups out in the open in Ukraine. They have an official Army unit whose official symbols are identical to old SS insignias. Perhaps I should have said they are white supremacists, not necessarily anti-Semites.
The simple fact is that the Nazi-Soviet Pact allowed the Nazis to invade Poland without worrying about a Soviet reaction. 8 days after it was signed, they invaded Poland. There is absolutely cause and effect here.
It is clear that the Russians are very butt hurt about how Stalin was a damned fool for doing that, and then getting caught flat-footed, and then having 26 million of them killed or murdered during the war, but just because you’re butt hurt about something doesn’t make it untrue. That being said, Putin and the present leadership wasn’t even born in 1939 - so why don’t they just come clean about it and state that there is no way that the present Russian government would ever do anything like that.
