South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg faced a flurry of criticism on Christmas day after he suggested that Jesus Christ entered into the world as a refugee.
“Today I join millions around the world in celebrating the arrival of divinity on earth, who came into this world not in riches but in poverty, not as a citizen but as a refugee,” he tweeted.
His tweet came just days after the 2020 presidential candidate released his plan calling for a significant increase in refugee admissions and setting an admissions minimum of 95,000.
Buttigieg’s policy paper specifically recalls Biblical language to support his vision for immigration. “I was a stranger and you welcomed me,” the paper says, referring to a passage from the Gospels.
But conservatives argued Buttigieg’s understanding of the Bible was off the mark.
“Joseph and Mary went to their ancestral home in Bethlehem for a census,” conservative commentator Matt Walsh tweeted.
“[I]n no sense did Jesus ‘come into this world as a refugee.’ There’s also no reason to think that Joseph was particularly impoverished. So nothing about this tweet is correct,” he added. …

Lev 12:8 — Two turtle doves or two young pigeons is the sacrificial offering prescribed for a poor woman on the occasion of her completing her post-partum purification.

From a historian I read about, years ago, Joseph was not a lowly carpenter. He was a revered Architect and we may think that Mary riding an ass was a sign of poverty. If ANYONE had an ass back then, it was a sign of affluence to what degree I know not. The manger story could be very real but the innkeeper probably did NOT give them the space free gratis, it was simply every place was full up. Joseph left Bethlehem for a job in Egypt which saved his life at that time. Jesus’ time was unrelated for a long time was due to Joseph of Arithamia (taking Him to England and througout the known world.) Joseph of Arithamea was at that time, the richest man in the world, supposedly. There are supposedly records of this in Vatican.

Pete Buttgigger is a refugee from reality. He has climbed the fence of denial, topped off with the barbed wire of idiocy and now expects to be on the government freebie dole for the rest of his life.

Absolutely did not ENTER the world a refugee. He soon became one when the family fled to Egypt to excape Herod's order to kill the male children under two years of age.
My problem with Buttigeg is that he wants to live as one who has rejected the law of God while using the Bible to seek the favor of Christians. THAT is the behavior of a phony liar and reprobate.

“‘When the days of her purification for a son or daughter are over, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a dove for a sin offering. He shall offer them before the Lord to make atonement for her, and then she will be ceremonially clean from her flow of blood.Lev 12:6-8 (RSV)“‘These are the regulations for the woman who gives birth to a boy or a girl. But if she cannot afford a lamb, she is to bring two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering.
