South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg faced a flurry of criticism on Christmas day after he suggested that Jesus Christ entered into the world as a refugee.
Today I join millions around the world in celebrating the arrival of divinity on earth, who came into this world not in riches but in poverty, not as a citizen but as a refugee, he tweeted.
His tweet came just days after the 2020 presidential candidate released his plan calling for a significant increase in refugee admissions and setting an admissions minimum of 95,000.
Buttigiegs policy paper specifically recalls Biblical language to support his vision for immigration. I was a stranger and you welcomed me, the paper says, referring to a passage from the Gospels.
But conservatives argued Buttigiegs understanding of the Bible was off the mark.
Joseph and Mary went to their ancestral home in Bethlehem for a census, conservative commentator Matt Walsh tweeted.
[I]n no sense did Jesus come into this world as a refugee. Theres also no reason to think that Joseph was particularly impoverished. So nothing about this tweet is correct, he added.

and in that census they had to report if they were citizens or not.....
Butterbutt the Sodmite has it bassakwards as usual.
WE’RE the refugees. Jesus came (and comes) to rescue US, the refugees.
Islam is Right about Homosexuality
Next thing you know Buttgigger will be saying Jesus was gay.
The flight into Egypt is a story recounted in the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 2:13–23) and in New Testament apocrypha. Soon after the visit by the Magi, an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream telling him to flee to Egypt with Mary and the infant Jesus since King Herod would seek the child to kill him.
And presumably Saint Joseph had money for the inn had there been room.
Not only that, but the owner of the inn was a republican.

Impeached president Clinton said Jesus was a homeless person.
The Christ child had to go to Egypt, and come out of Egypt, to fulfill prophecy. Unfortunately, the murder of the small boys in Bethlehem was prophesied as well.
Little baby Jesus refugee.
iIt seems you can believe in a lot of strange things in his church.
I prefer the King James version of Luke whenever I get into this argument with a lefty.
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
The communists have fallen so far that they actually have a used butt plug in the clown car now....what’s sad, it people are actually smelling and listening to it.
He was not a refugee. His family was in Bethlehem to register with the census so they could be taxed! There is nothing to indicate that they were poor.
Also, while Egypt and Judea were separate countries, they were both part of the Roman Empire so really it was like Joseph, Mary, and Jesus fled New Mexico and escaped into Texas.
In other words, are you really a refugee if you leave one part of the Roman Empire only to find refuge in another part of the Roman Empire?
Note that because of political correctness, the liberals have rewritten the Bible (”New Revised Standard Version”)to say all the children were killed, both boys and girls. I assume to avoid sexism, although it makes the whole thing absurd.
Check it out:
The changing of reality by the Left is very subtle. The “progressive” version of the Bible which is used in virtually all mainline churches has been extensively rewritten from what is actually in Scripture.
Separate countries, separate people with separate cultures and languages.
Joseph took his family and fled to Egypt. Both Judea and Egypt were provinces of Rome. They sound like displaced persons. From the Wikipedia entry for displaced person:
“someone who is forced to flee his or her home but who remains within his or her country’s borders. They are often referred to as refugees, although they do not fall within the legal definitions of a refugee.”
With regard to being a refuge, the international convention regarding refugees essentially requires somebody to be a member of a persecuted minority group; i.e., has a
“well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.”
Therefore, Hispanics coming here from countries in which they are part of the majority group are not refugees. Their government is supposed to protect them in their homeland.
