Does anyone know of any Old Fashioned Amish Villages/Town in either PA()not Lancaster), NY or OH?

Millersburg Ohio. Still remember being in line at Burger King behind a horse and buggy. The Walmart had hitching posts, watering troughs and shade for the horses. The local hospital has similar parking arrangements for the buggies.

You’re free to stay in Omaha.

US Navy Vet is free to visit Amish country, where they welcome tourism.

Look how easy that was.

Sounds like a place I’d enjoy.

Recently I saw a brand of tool that was new to me, the Cut-Awl. It just happened to be at Furman U. There were several on a high shelf.

Eventually I hope to see Amish country. An aunt and uncle of mine went every year just about in the 80s and 90s.

The Amana Colonies in Iowa were founded by German Pietists, but along the same line. Just a little out of your way ;-)

Do a Google search on Amish Yates County NY. About 40 years ago, Amish farmers seeking land migrated from Lancaster Co., PA northward to Yates County. More came, families grew, and there is now a sizable population of Amish in the southern Finger Lakes, between
Cananandaigua and Seneca Lakes, and around Keuka Lake. There is an established Mennonite Community, too. From this region, it is a relatively short and beautiful trip to NYC.

We have some Mennonite here in Western MA.

Honestly dealing with them is almost like dealing at a Moroccan bazaar. I am a pretty open minded guy, but I hate dicking around on the price of stuff.

ntnychik :" Do a Google search on Amish Yates County NY. .."

I think that you are referring to Penn Yan,NY in Yates County.
There is an Amish, multi-season craft and market called "The Windmill".
Many goods available year-round, and many others are seasonal.

I have seen Amish people many times in Tijuana of all places. They travel by train to San Diego and take the trolley to the border. They go their for medical care. They bring their families with them. I heard them speaking some type of German.

My brother lives in the Finger Lakes region of NY and I know they are in that area. They built an addition to his house. You’ll see their buggies on the road.

Based on all the things posted on FR, the Amish or concentrated DC, South Chicago, and Baltimore...
Some great places to stay, as well...

Not too far from there is a town called Nappanee, which has a place called Amish Acres complete with a theater believe it or not. First time I ever ate peanut butter pie.

Indiana also has offshoots of Amish they call “jerked over Amish” - Mennonites and Dunkards.

Well I have a coffee mug that says “Amish Country” I could send ya.
Got it from a yard sale— nowhere near PA— when I first joined FR.
There’s a FReeper joke in there somewhere.
