Does anyone know of any Old Fashioned Amish Villages/Town in either PA()not Lancaster), NY or OH? We will be heeded east next early Summer for a Vacation with Relatives In NYC.
Intercourse, PA but its not what it was years ago.
Isn’t intercourse near Lancaster, I thought it was in Amish country?
Just down the road from Coitus, PA
Intercourse is the newly wed honeymoon capital of the east coast.
If you navigate correctly, you can find yourself on the road from Intercourse to Paradise. ;^)
Kidron, Ohio - go to Lehman’s Hardware store - they have tools you will not find anywhere else. They sell stuff made by local Amish.
Sights and Sounds theater Lancaster pa.
Kidron, Ohio; Walnut Creek, Ohio. Visit Lehmans Hardware in Kidron.
Look up the attractions in Holmes and Wayne Count Ohio. Not too far south of I-76 if you’re traveling west to east. It’s very beautiful there.
Make sure when you are gawking at them you keep the car idling. Some of those carriages can move pretty fast if they try to chase you.
Wife and I visited Gettysburg one summer, then headed toward Amish country on the back roads...We took turns calling left, right, or straight at crossroads...We saw wonderful country and ended up in Delaware...Great trip...
kidron is where the Lehmanns store is.
If you research a bit yoiu might find an amish B and B to stay at.
It may be a little north of your path, but Shipshewana IN, about 35 miles east of South Bend, is a big Amish Center, complete with Amish grocery stores and restaurants, and a lot of buggies on the highways.
Here’s what Wiki says:
Shipshewana is a town in Newbury Township, LaGrange County, Indiana, United States. The population was 658 at the 2010 census. It is the location of the Menno-Hof Amish & Mennonite Museum, which showcases the history of the Amish and Mennonite peoples. Wikipedia
Bird in Hand, PA is nearby and a little less commercial.
Check out the Shady Maple Smorgasboard. Not really Amish but great food
Is this so you can gawk at them or something?
What’s with the infatuation of interfering and annoying people of different religions?
I’m in Omaha and you don’t see me visiting and annoying those quaint primitive indians on the reservation.
What am I missing here as a patriotic Kirk conservative American?
Any other grown-ups out there?
Both Intercourse and Blue Ball are tourist traps now.
