The Coming War on China, from award winning journalist John Pilger, reveals what the news doesn’t – that the world’s greatest military power, the United States, and the world’s second economic power, China, both nuclear-armed, may well be on the road to war.
Nuclear war is not only imaginable, but planned. The greatest build-up of NATO military forces since the Second World War is under way on the western borders of Russia. On the other side of the world, the rise of China is viewed in Washington as a threat to American dominance.
To counter this, President Obama announced a ‘pivot to Asia’, which meant that almost two-thirds of all US naval forces would be transferred to Asia and the Pacific, their weapons aimed at China. A policy which has been taken up by his successor Donald Trump, who during his election campaign said “We can’t continue to allow China to rape our country and that’s what they’re doing”.
Filmed on five possible front-lines across Asia and the Pacific over two years, the story is told in chapters that connect a secret and ‘forgotten’ past to the rapacious actions of great power today and to a resistance, of which little is known in the West.
Once China starts to see its economy begin to collapse, it will either die in a civil war or attempt to thrive in a small regional war.

No enemy would do us the favor of $ Trillions in improvements of our major urban centers. We are immune from nuclear attack.
Although there are lingering remnants of testing, the islands have recovered.

Yes, I remember some of that. It was where he ignored our European allies and attempted to make nice with the Chinese, by ignoring their aggression against their neighbors in Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapor, Indonesia, and the Philippines. He deliberately ignore China's takeover of reefs and rocks in direct violation of their treaty commitments.
President Obama refused to enforce our policy of freedom of the seas.
President Trump has re-ignited it.
Very likely, this film was financed by China.

Using the narrowest of terms, 9/11 cost the US one trillion dollars.
I used to own that book ! Bought it in Tokyo in fact .
China has no ability to wage war in the US. It’s silly to even contemplate it.
I guess it depends on your definition of war.
It has excellent cyber war potential; arguably already being used against us.
It likely has the ability to take out most of our satellite space resources. We depend on those a great deal.
It is, at minimum, studying how to take out our electric grid and communications network. It may have the capability to do that. We have been negligent in developing robust protections for them.
Are those capabilities included in your assessment?
The negligence in mandating protections of electronic, communications,
and electrical systems has been both corporate and governmental issues.
This is due primarily to concerns about who should bear the expense of such protections: business or government.
Have we already forgotten the 2013 incident in California whereby transformers were shot by a gunman,
and this incident led to almost cascading collapse of the electrical system in the Silicon Valley.
Some call it vandalism, some call it terrorism, but regardless, it demonstrates the level of our vulnerability.

The other issue about this sabotage that concerns me is the fact that this information
wasn't made to the public until almost 1 1/2 years after the fact.
We are still currently facing rocket EMP threats from Iran, North Korea and China,
while at the same time China is hacking corporate and military information off the internet.
Our electrical and electronic infrastructure still remains vulnerable almost 7 years later,
and nothing has been done to protect them.
