They had the escape planned right down to the second Louie would grab a hold of the wing and they would swoop right out to freedom. They forgot to add the factor of a wall.

I am shocked! Always wanted to see this plane in the air. I got to see it fly right after they finished the restoration.
Personally, I'm against flying these historic, one of a kind aircraft. Once they're gone, that's it.

This sounds like something Wile E. Coyote might try!
I think it was a job in Nevada - there was a mailbox with that name on the side, stuck in the middle of 50 miles of nowhere!

Really.
Non-weird would have been a Boeing 737 MAX 8.

No, no, Big Bubba, the escape plan was supposed to be a helicopter!
There have been two small plane crashes in the Hill Country of Texas the past two days. All died. Prayers.

More like a pile of ashes.
I am torn between putting them in a museum or letting them be flown. I love to see history fly, but like you said, if it is a one off...perhaps it should stay grounded.

More like a pile of ashes.Yep. Nothing left to rebuild. What didn't get destroyed in the crash burned up in the resulting fire.
Here's KTLA video of the area.

Flying wings are a very efficient design until they're not. Some are prone to pitch instability in situations where a a traditional tailed or even a canard design would recover easily enough.
Then again, if you have crappy software it's not going to make any difference. Ask Boeing.

I vote for the museum myself.
I wish they had axed before they went and crashed it though... Whomever they are.
