Several alleged reveal dates for the eighth-generation "C8" Chevrolet Corvette have come and gone, and a new report claims that this has been due to design problems delaying the new model's launch. These complications have apparently been so major, in fact, they're causing damage to the car's frame and glass engine cover due to too much power for the chassis.
Rumors claimed that the C8 was scheduled for launch at Detroit's North American International Auto Show in January, then the Geneva Motor Show in March, both of which have come to pass without a new Corvette. Citing "well-placed sources," Hagerty alleges that General Motors missed these deadlines due to shortcomings with a new standardized, global GM electrical system, one in which engineers are reportedly still refining. This system is said to incorporate more than 100 interlinked computers on its Computer Area Network (CAN) bus. Hagerty's report corroborates rumors from December that alleged the C8 would be delayed six months due to electrical gremlins.
Problems are allegedly not limited to those digital, but also those mechanical. Prototypes fitted with twin-turbo V-8s producing between 900 and 1,000 horsepower have reportedly suffered from structural distortion so severe that the engine compartment's glass hatch was breaking. These are in line with previous rumors which claimed that the C8 will use a twin-turbo V-8 to achieve hypercar-like performance, with acceleration so "frightening" that GM has supposedly consulted with lawyers about the potential risk of selling something so fast.

I need a new stump puller.
Lotsa stuff to go wrong. No thanky.
Hahah! Yes, but not 2.2 sec 0-60
(Scottish accent) The engines are overheatin’ Captain! They canna take the strain!
Salt Lake racing flats. Maybe get some time on a profesional racing course.
It would be funny to see an indy pace car c8 hold its own and then pull away from the formulas...
There are some YouTube videos out there of Corvette drivers losing control just accelerating.
My old 67 was bad about the left motor mount tearing from the torque. In 1st hear, the engine would then torque over when the mount failed and pin the throttle linkage wide open. Great fun reaching the ignition key.
Put it on a track and youll wish you had more.
Had a buddy at Bragg that had a 427 Vette. The right wheel would
Hit the the fender under hard runs.Nice ride.I had a Yellow GS400 Buick
that I wish I still had.
Last week I got into a little tussle with a ZR1 here in town with my
Camaro, had him for about 50.That Vette is fast and loud.
72 yrs old and still havent grown up.
My thought was the same as yours.

How far is it before the fan blade bites the radiator?
Recalled seeing super stock drag cars with chains aroung motor mounts. understandable safety measure. Had no funds at the time, lucky to have a buddy that had access to a lift and could swap out the mounts real quick.
You just have to “granny” it sometimes.
AMAZING! You still have it!!!???
Sweet ride. I’d rather have yours.
Only 110? You need to get a REAL Muscle Car! Like my 1969 Fiat 124 Sports Coupe. One night while I was driving through rural Alabama, a Mustang & I "drove in loose formation" for about 10 miles. They'd get ahead on the straights and I'd catch up in the curves. We hit 111 at one point!
Of course, the 124 Sport Coupe came with a monster 1438 cc twin cam in-line 4-cyl. engine producing 94hp, so blinding speeds were no problem.
;-)
PS My other car was a "little Nash Rambler"... beep, beep!

Long gone, could not afford the insurance as a 22 yr old in the late sixties earning $4.55/hour.
100 points of probably expensive failure.

I love American car electronics... If the canbus system uses standardized interconnect cables and a multitude of discrete subsystems that are used across multiple platforms it’ll be just fine and the parts will be cheap going forward... You want a disaster try a Mercedes or BMW when they age... simply using an otherwise identical canbus cable that is just a few cm’s longer than original will introduce timing errors.
If GM develops theirs like “ethernet” as opposed to Mercedes system which is more like “token ring” it’ll rock.
Kerbeck (the largest Corvette dealer anywhere) in AC NJ used to do a “Toys for Tots” run from a rest stop about 20 miles from AC on the AC Expressway...Corvettes only. The cops shut the expressway and the on ramps. You could go any speed. In ours we were putting along at 155 mph. There were some going by us like we were standing still. Good times. Apparently some one (probably a Prius driver) complained several years ago so they stopped the event. No one ever got hurt.
Not all that fast, and lost power as it heated up.

CBX overheated the 2 middle cylinders and couldn’t turn because of the engine width... The Suzuki GS1000E was far better.
I gave up on Corvettes after 1972, Im an old school guy.
