Unfortunately the House crap is more sinister than Kabuki. They know they can’t impeach him and they also know he won’t be indicted, so the only play they have is to beat Trump up so badly in the media and public opinion that he will lose in 2020 and they can get their power back. Everything would be rolled-back to Obama days although the Scotus and federal judges will be there to haunt them for decades to come.
Point is, the hearings won’t accomplish anything in an official investigative sense, but they do have the potential to be disruptive and influence swing voters in 2020. That’s why I hope “opening the door” means what I think it does, so that releasing information that will be damaging to the Dems will be seen as a response to their own questions/attack, not an attempt to “obstruct”.

And we need to do a better job of laying out the alternative vision to AOCs nonsense. Those of us who grew up in the era when Civics and American History were taught know it, but the younger generations don’t. That’s why they say yeah, sure when asked about socialism, they are not stupid but they are uninformed.
Laying out the vision of what freedom really means - the ability to live where and how you wish, keeping more of your own money, not being told what to do by Big Brother - all those things are still very attractive. But it isn’t learned through osmosis, the story needs to be told.
