Vanity Identify this patch
Posted on 01/29/2019 10:24:42 PM PST by jdirt
Hi Guys, I found this in the attic. My father was in the WWII and he made Normandy. This emblem is on a dark green "Genuine Basque Beret" that was made in England. I searched the whole internet and can't identify it. I even tried google image search. Thank you
The patch has a black background. The two gold stripes are outlined with red stitches. The rest is gold stitches.

Gods, Graves, Glyphs, basically mostly ancient history, but a lot of people on the list have general history interests.

Those types of patches are called “beret flashes” — might help in looking it up.

Some of the smartest historians on Free Republic.

It does appear to be based in the Washington family coat of arms. Which I think is reflected in DC’s flag.

Very much so, albeit in gold instead of red and blue.

The similarity is unbelievable but certainly in the wrong color.
I also checked out the pin interest article but they don’t address patches or flashes.
Maybe its not military or anything to do with WWII? I just am kinda baffled really.
