You have 2 days (48 hours) to pay. (I have a special code, and at the moment I know that you have read this email).

If I don't get bitcoins, I will send your video to all your contacts, including family members, colleagues, etc. However, if I am paid, I will immediately destroy the video, and my trojan will be destruct someself.

If you want to get proof, answer "Yes!" and resend this letter to youself. And I will definitely send your video to your any 11 contacts.

They don’t have you password either. But they have your email and perhaps your Yahoo password for that account you haven’t used in 7 years.

Solution:
1. Free software to keep passwords secure - several available on Windows, Mac, Linux. Pick a master password that you absolutely will not forget, at least 15 characters long.
2. Every account gets a unique password.
3. Make passwords at least 15 characters long.
4. Use a random password generator (some web sites have restrictions on characters your password can have).
5. Keep a backup copy of an encrypted passwords on USB NOT online.
6. Don’t load up any software from untrusted sources (e.g. porn or Facebook).
7. Change passwords on an irregular basis.
8. Make throwaway email for random web sites that ask for an email.
9. Create new throwaway emails at least a few times a year.
10. Make your email for family/friends closely guarded.

Suffice to say, don’t pay ‘em, basically just ignore ‘em.

It’s related to one or more known data breaches of some years ago, and is spam email.

People are being victimized by a terrifying new email scam... [tr]

Stuff like this never makes it off my service providers email, and should it manage it is marked spam on my end and deleted unread.

I got one, too.

I am a 76-year-old woman who has never once even searched for a porn site, let alone watched it. No one else has access to my computer.

My husband and I laughed about it and I trashed it. Never heard another peep.

Send it to the FBI.

Yeah - instead of going after those who initiated it, they'll grab you for "attacking" them with it....

Suitably altered to fit the particular situation, this is a good response to any scam call you might receive.

Don’t open emails from people you don’t know. Even then, don’t open half of those you do know.

Even without the whole “I don’t watch porn” content of my forum (I don’t believe any of you) I can say that I’ve received this email and I don’t have a webcam.

They have nothing on you. It’s all a tall tale. Someone watched that Dark Mirror episode and got to work. Probably took them that long to build a bitcoin ID without tracing back to them. Because lemme tell you, that’s harder than it sounds.

I actually ordered my new laptop sans camera because of that Black Mirror episode. With CGI anyone can do anything and we’re not at a point in society where everyone knows that.

I’ve been receiving emails saying I have committed 4 felonies and if I don’t pay the fine immediately, they will send the police to arrest me. Yeah, I read the first email a couple of times, and recognized what it was.
