CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. -- A 10-year-old girl charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of a 6-month-old baby told investigators that she panicked after dropping the infant, and stomped on the child's head to stop the crying, according to a sheriff in western Wisconsin.
Handcuffed and wearing a leather restraint around her waist, the girl sobbed as she appeared in Chippewa County Circuit Court on Monday. A judge set bond at $50,000. State law requires the case, at least initially, to be held in adult court, according to prosecutors.
First responders were called Oct. 30 to a licensed home day care in the Town of Tilden near Chippewa Falls. The baby was found to be unresponsive and bleeding from the head, according to officials. The baby was rushed to HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls, then airlifted to Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare hospital about 90 miles (145 kilometers) to the west in St. Paul. He died Nov. 1.

The State is also at fault for the death, by the way, because of its faulty policies, immunities and lack of employee accountability. Generally, on average, more children do better with their own parents than under the control of government.
When I was 10 years old, I remember watching my toddler brother with my 12 yr old brother once in a while. Not a baby, but knew not to stomp on little one’s head. Never would have occurred to me.
Well, there you have it. This is not a question of religion or no religion although I think religion for children is a must. Obviously, you would not agree and that is OK.
I agree with you. I was never an amoral child and I didn’t find Jesus until I was in my 20s. I was raised by my divorced, working mother. My 2 brothers and myself turned out fine and have never been to jail.
Not just in foster care. Children are not around family units anymore. No one teaches children how to care for others. Just drop them off somewhere. Where do children even learn how to treat babies? No where. But where strong family units are in place and children have access to see how to care for babies etc the story is different. And by family units I include extended families. I was horrified by this incident but at the same time where has this child been taught how to treat a baby gently? It isn’t knowledge a kid is born with, it’s taught by example and explanation.
When my soul cannot get any more sick of just heart-wrenching misery day in and out, there is this. I just shut the internet down, grab a drink and go outside.

I don’t know anymore.
“Investigators interviewed four people at the home and the girl , who lives with foster parents at the house”
So it was a home daycare.
The folks running it should be charged not the girl. They should not have let the girl manage other kids.
Save that for your own kids (siblings among themselves).
Don’t assume the story the girl told investigators was the truth. Or that she was expected to care for or was allowed to hold the infant by the foster parents.
She may be crying her lying eyes out in court, but her story of panic stomping is not credible.
How can a 10 year old be tasked with caring for a baby? It seem to me the adults in charge of this fiasco should be charged with child endangerment.
There was a notorious case like this in England. Two 10-year-old boys lured a two-year-old away from his mother in 1993 at a shopping center and murdered him. They were tried and convicted but released at 18. One of them has reoffended and been re-jailed several times.
The victim, Jamie Bulger
The murderers
Oh I think she probably is lying none the less something has happened to this girl that is most likely horrific.
“She may be crying her lying eyes out in court, but her story of panic stomping is not credible.”
Why is it not credible? At her age it’s safe to assume she she’s a baby as nothing more than a baby doll.
“No 10 year old should be holding a baby that small.
Ive seen way too many pre-teen (almost always) girls holding babies on their hips that they can barely hold onto while the lazy piece of work excuse for a *mother* goes about as queen of England.
I just want to smack that woman right upside the head.
Thats just asking for trouble expecting a pre-teen to try to hold a squirmy baby when shes not nearly physically big enough to.
Besides, its not HER baby. Its the moms and mother hood comes with responsibility. Which means you dont foist the child care off onto other siblings.
Theres NO WAY that girl should have been allowed to hold any child in that *day care*. The parents are responsible here too.”
I agree with everything you said!!!
When I was 10 in order to hold a baby cousin my aunt or Granny would have been RIGHT THERE supervising me every single second. The adults in this situation were very careless.
Do ten year olds generally stomp on their dolls when they drop them?
The panic story is just a story this girl is telling to cover up her inexplicable but willful abuse of this infant.
Do you suppose she was removed from her biological family because she was in danger or because she was the danger?
