What if the Bloomberg espionage article is true and our critical infrastructure has been hacked at the hardware level by China? What if our cellphones, personal computers and other popular electronic devices all had a tiny chip installed at the Chinese factories where big-name U.S. companies outsourced them for manufacture or assembly? ... What if the USS Fitzgerald Navy warship and the Philippine cargo ship that collided with one another in 2017 used navigation electronics containing this chip? What if China seized control of one or both of the vessels and caused the collision? What if the collision was a test? What if the test was successful and China can gain control of our navigation and weapons systems?

Back in the 1980s, there was a furor over the military buying foreign fasteners (nuts and bolts) that were no good.
The military went back to school on fasteners and fixed it.
We just need to do the same here.

idle speculation and fear mongering. there is no proof such a chip actually exists let alone was installed anywhere. Chips are not just willy-nilly stuck on circuit boards - the boards are designed to have such and such chips at such and such design spec to do such and such actions. Quality control checks all these specs and rating. Any extra chips or chips out of spec would be spotted right away.
Mostly this story is aimed at driving stock prices low for options traders. Which seems to have worked, while peons get worked up about security - most of whom have no idea what is involved. Else just a plain fake. May as well say extra-solar aliens instead of Chinese.

This type of hardware hack would be difficult, expensive, and less useful than the current firmware hacks.
Technically Communist Red China is still at war with the United Nations even tough they are now a member.
It seems we like to learn about foreign military parts the hard way.

Far too much, yet not enough to make up for them giving the Chinese access to valuable information. But this is a bigger problem then just the Democrats alone. Both parties have played a part in this crime against the people.
When you assign the resources of a highly technical and capable country to the problem, along with espionage, these things become less of a difficulty.

This is not real. The author extrapolated from speculation a guy was talking about, and skipped how he was actually arguing AGAINST that being a real possibility, for the reasons I said
same reason I don’t like the idea of illegals (foreignors) working on border wall as some suggest, or illegals building bridges, roads anything, I’ve seen too many have no regard for things at their work place, many years back saw video’s of all the trash they leave in (organ pipe?) national park and along the border, if foreignors have no respect or regard for land they travel through or items given to work with they have no regard for any of us citizens and likely not do a good job in most everything they do.
What if there was evidence that some of the crew were not properly doing their duties? If they had said that there were discrepancies in what the instruments said and reality, or they tried to take evasive actions and something didn’t respond correctly, this guy’s theories might have more weight....not saying it ain’t possible, just that the coincidence of lax watch duty makes this suspect.
