I changed my password. When I entered by new password for logging in, it rejected it.
What happened is that my password was too long, and it truncated when I changed. But it did not warn me.
I use a 'robot' for passwords, so I can have 'long passwords'.
I figured out how the password was truncated (the length it needed to be). When I truncated the password, the new password worked.
It is my opinion that the 'focus' software should have warned me that the password was too long.
Double face palm.
Are you a victim? Can you show us on this doll where the password software touched you?
You are correct. But the Free Republic web site should have been the one to warn you the password was too long. And instead of truncating it automatically it should have rejected and forced you to enter a new one.
Programmer here. I think you’re wise for using long passwords, but I don’t bother with long passwords for sites like this. You’re posting anonymously and it has nothing to do with money or extended social contacts (i.e. Linked In for career building contacts).
No harm no fowl..............
sign on as a newbie i.e. Newtopher and explain the problem on your new profile.
A shame since you have been here from the beginning of FR.
As I remember it FR assigns passwords. They are short and sweet.
That’s all I got;)
No birds were hurt in this post.
Topher 1.
What a deal...
I guess no point in asking if you are logged on.
Absolutely!...............
Same as a Bogo?...........
I haven't changed my password since I joined the site in 1998 so it doesn't seem like a high priority item to me.
Registration program has been inop for months or was as of last week
Yes, this is very series.
First FR comes for your long password...Sort of like circumcision...If you continue to whine about it, it’ll be castration next...
Keep the password simple like: Password
Makes it easy for us to post as you :)
"Shout out your code, man!"
Color me confused You are posting this vanity with your original identity. Whats the problem????
What browser? OS?
Older versions of IE no longer work. It has something to do with verification changes made on FR a year or so ago.
