Scientists today revealed they are 'extremely close' to creating artificial embryos after a huge breakthrough.
Researchers used mouse stem cells to produce artificial embryo-like structures capable of 'gastrulation' - a key life event.
Gastrulation occurs when embryonic cells self-organise themselves into the correct structure for an embryo to form.
The breakthrough offers hope of shedding light on one of the biggest causes of infertility - embryos failing to implant in the womb.
Biologists have for years tried to create embryos from stem cells in order to create an unlimited supply that could be used for medical research.

You have created - nothing -.
They have created something from stem cells that doesn’t occur naturally.
They didn’t create anything. They used something that was already living.
But they will keep trying. They want to be able to “create” human beings in test tubes, so as to have complete control over the process. Feminists will demand that sex be eliminated. (Sex meaning coitus, and sex meaning male/female). Gays will demand that 10% of the artificial babies be gay. (5% lezz, 5% male gay). Deaf activists will demand that .5% be deaf. And so it will go: babies on demand.
If that happens, the human race will end.
At last, man will create ? in his own image: Artificial Stupidity is on its way.
