Demarketing plastic products in order to try and demarket oil?
RQSR’s Fairy Tale: Once upon a time about forty years ago the leftists protested like ‘H’ to save the trees that were being harvested to make paper bags for grocery shopping, and multiple other uses, and to make us all use plastic bags for our shopping purpose.
Today the leftist’s are all against plastic bags, because as sane people told them about forty years ago the plastic bags don’t deteriorate in the land fills as do the paper bags.
They ignored all the evidence presented to them, and they lied, and chanted, and hugged the trees, and made general asses of themselves as they always do.
They forced the government to bend to their wishes, and laws were created to make us all use plastic bags to save the trees. The left claimed the Earth was saved.

We were at Knott’s Berry Farm over the Independence Day Holiday and the waiter at the chicken dinner restaurant there seemed downright embarrassed that they could no longer offer straws.
Like so many of the left’s obsessions, it’s a fad - the latest way to show that you’re sensitive, alert, informed, and ahead of every lesser soul in trying to save the world - it’ll pass.....

I could live with the paper straws. I remember how you could tear off the end of the straw cover, put it to your lips and blow the cover clear across the room. Then came plastic, and the friction was too great to blow the cover off. It just blew out the other end of the cover.
Sounds like a trip to Sam’s is in order, to pick up a few thousand straws...to add to my existing stock of several thousand plastic “tee shirt bags”, as they call them - just supermarket bags.
The Left can do as they please, but they’ll NEVER be able to take my bags and straws from my cold dead hands.

First step to reduce plastic waste is to cut back on their use. Such as plastic bags, straw, cups and utensils. The next step it would seem is to "require bottle deposits"

The idea is that all this plastic ends up in the Pacific Ocean.
It's not solid trash. You can't walk on it. Photos supposedly of the trash patch are actually debris from disasters. But there is a lot of it.

I heard today that a seas turtle was found dead with a straw up its nose. For real. That was a real piece of news. Yet cocaine has not been banned.
