Why Old Songs Bring Back Memories
Does anybody remember that "Skyrockets in Flight" song? Well, that was Afternoon Delight ^ | This was a while ago | Daniel Leviton

Rick suffers from Multiple Myeloma. From what I’ve read, patients who are Davies’ age usually live about three to four years. Davies was diagnosed in 2015.

I just hope that he and Roger Hodgson can reconcile before it’s too late.

The songs that you listed are epic but I also love “Crime of the Century”, “Hide in Your Shell”, “If Anyone was Listening” and “Fool’s Overture”. In fact, it’s hard to name a favorite; they are all so good.

I was listening to “Just Another Nervous Wreck” the other day and wondered if they could get away with those lyrics today.

For example, the chorus: “Don’t give a damn, fight while you can, kill, shoot ‘em up, they’ll run amuck.”

Then at the end of the song: “They’re gonna bleed, that’s what they need, we’ll get together and blow their cover.” Actually, the people Davies was referring to in that song remind me of the Deep State.

Yes, Roll Tide! So proud of them for winning another title, especially after the insane amount of injuries the team suffered. Amazing coaching job by Saban.

I was also very proud of their conduct when they travelled to the White House to meet Trump. They were respectful and I was especially proud of our Punter, JK Scott, praying with Trump.

As for Stanford, I like their style of play. They remind me of Alabama in that they play physical, old style football. You are correct in that they tend to lose at least one game that they shouldn’t.

One day I looked at the top 100 for 1973. I recognized 90% of the songs. That was truly the best time for pop music.

Years back, I was tasked by my boss to write up a very lengthy and detailed process document. I knew it was a waste of three weeks and no one would ever read it but I did my job.

Each point in the process had a alpha-numeric header.

When I got to E-17 I wrote: “It was our song, it was his song but it’s over.”

Since no one ever read it, no one ever said anything. Bummer

The Cars and Pretenders remind me of Spring Break at Sloppy Joes in Key West. Great times.

And in my view, this song was tops--number one for the entire decade:

Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy--The Andrews Sisters (1973)

Your about 30 years late on that. The Andrew Sisters did that during WW2.

The Andrews Sisters recorded that song in 1941. It was a WWII standard. And awesome song.

Better Midler covered it in 1972. Can’t say I recall that one.

That one sounds like it should be rated "R" or something...        :-)

This was another big one for Etta, which I always liked:

“I started loving Supertramp when my older sister purchased their “Breakfast in America”

I saw them live back in the day. Great band. Crime Of The Century was my personal favorite.

May you go marching in three measure time
Dressed up as asses, drunk to the nines
Swing from the rafters
Shouting those songs
Gone unsung for far too long

Yup, memories, in the corner of my mind ..

Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets” takes me back to junior high when I had my first experience with puppy love. The Doobies’ “Black Water” takes me back to high school, singing that song in the shower after football or basketball practice with one of my best buddies, who died from pancreatic cancer a couple of years ago. The Eagles “Hotel California” takes me to my freshman year of college where I met a lot of new friends. Seger and “We’ve Got Tonight” takes me back to the woman that broke my heart and got away . . . I still love her and see her often. Kenny Rogers’ “Lady” takes me to the girl I married, the mother of my sons, and from whom I have been divorced for 17 years.

I’m kinda like Peter Pan from the movie “Hook” . . . sometimes I have trouble finding my happy thought.
