“I think there’s no doubt that music is a great emotional companion, and when you introduce words into a person’s psyche with all the emotion that music can bring, you’re affecting the human condition.” (Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul, and Mary, speaking of the power of music in reference to the musical preferences of the Columbine killers)

I had noticed by 1971 that the left were using music in their propaganda efforts. It’s not just TV and the news media that brought us to this pass; your—and my—favorite rockers are also to blame.

If I have observed one thing in the decades since my peep hole opened, it’s this: whenever anybody says “It’s just a (book)(movie)(song)(whatever),” it most definitely is not *just* a (book)(movie)(song)(whatever).

Here’s a thread I have missed, if there has been one: What song do you hate above all others? What song do you loathe with the fire of a thousand suns? Which little guitar and voice ditty would you gnaw your ears off rather than listen to again?

Like you user name.
I’m a little more old school than
you evidently. I don’t recognize a
single song title you mentioned.
Now if you’re talking The Hollies,
Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart, Linda
Ronstadt, Carly Simon, James Taylor,
Gordon Lightfoot, Deep Purple, The
Eagles, Bread, Steve Earl, Credence
Clearwater Revival, Jackson Brown,
Jim Croce, then yes, they are
performers the evoke strong
memories. (for me).

I started loving Supertramp when my older sister purchased their “Breakfast in America” LP. I was eight years old but I played the album more than she did. I have downloaded most of their songs on itunes. Underrated band, IMO.

I hate that Rick Davies is dying.

I also like REO Speedwagon.

Actually the name of that song was ‘’Afternoon Delight’’ by The Starlight Vocal Band.

Most hauntingly beautiful song ever written.

Songs like "Take the Long Road Home", "Breakfast in America", and "Goodbye Stranger" are absolute perfection on the road.

Sorry to hear about Davies. Very few songs these days have such powerful lyrics and moving musical accompaniment as he was able to help create.

Roll Tide!

(Though I will be rooting for Stanford if they ever manage not to shoot themselves in the foot so early every season.)

Here's a different song with the same title.

I'm convinced that song became a hit because of grade-school kids calling disc jockeys and requesting, "My Name is Michael."

Afternoon Delight: Starland Vocal Band.

They wrote/backed with John Denver on Country Roads, as I recall.

B-17.

Not to be confused with the Boeing Flying Fortress.

The Eagles were, indeed, a great vocal group. Their songs Such a Fool, I Told Myself and Don't You Want to Be Mine? should have been big hits.

“Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by The Beach Boys.

I remember hearing that from from-lawn transistor radios as I walked the tree-lined avenues of old Palo Alto in the summer of 1966. I did not know who it was then.

I had little interest in music as a math-nerd/sci-fi/g.i.joe boy, but something about that caught my ear.

A decade later I bought Pet Sounds, and it gradually became my favorite album ever.

It eventually became one of my inspirations to study and sing choral repertoire, and to compose choral compositions.

I do now own the Pet Sounds Boxed Set.

Harry Nilsson sang a song that conjures memories of certain teenage moments that will go unmentioned.

“Seven Bridges Road” by Steve Young.

I think the Eagles only perform it live, and theirs is an awesome rendition.

They started out as studio musicians and became Linda Ronstadt’s backing band, and are masters of their craft.

It is so considered by some: Laetrile. Found in apricot and apple seeds.

The FDA does not recognize. Used in Mexico as anti-carcinogenic alternative treatment.

If there is no genuine deficiency disease associated with its lack, then it is not legitimately a vitamin. However, that is a separate consideration from whether its presence has salutary effect.

Since such seeds are also high in cyanotic compounds, they can be dangerous in large doses.

Not prescribing, just informing.
