Deputy who hid outside Stoneman Douglas High as shooter murdered 17 is seen enjoying $60,000 [tr]

The Florida school cop branded a coward for failing to tackle mass shooter Nikolas Cruz is seen for the first time - enjoying his taxpayer-funded retirement.

Sheriff's Deputy Scot Peterson, 54, chose to resign and retire rather than face an internal affairs investigation for 'seeking cover' while AR-15 wielding Cruz slaughtered kids inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

That means the 33-year law enforcement veteran will keep his $60,000 pension unless he's hit with a federal charge of failing to act, which legal experts say will be hard to prove.

Peterson appeared happy and relaxed Saturday as he headed to a strip mall, wearing a baseball cap, pink t-shirt, shorts and a fanny pack, to take a female companion to lunch.

A soft, fat guy who took the easy way out working as a traffic cop then school cop. He did not have it in him to deal with a real life or death situation.
The ROTC student did better than the cop with the $60K pension. How pathetic.

Well, I think we have our explanation as to why he didn’t go in.

Good observation.

Should have been a D.A.R.E. officer, they just BS with the kids and that's all that is expected.

There’s no such thing as, Failure to Act, when it comes to law enforcement.

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/28/politics/justices-rule-police-do-not-have-a-constitutional-duty-to-protect.html

What could have and should have happened is, the p*ssy to be brought up on charges within the department for cowardice and, probably, for failing to follow some other SOPs and then be terminated. He wouldn’t be entitled to anything, at that point, except for getting back his contributions, if he made any.

I don’t see the benefit to our culture to take away the head of household’s retirement. We just have to pay welfare some other way to feed the family.

Yep, and he was able to make an instantaneous decision to retire because he has spent the past 4 years calculating his retirement benefits and how many minutes he had to work to get full benefits. I guess he was there only to "pad" his ;last four and so it was easy to retire on the spot.

Did he retire with disability?

He will eventually get a disability rating, it takes a while. Pretty much all retired cops get at least 20%-50%, which means that portion of their retirement check is exempt from state and federal income tax. At some percentage point, you get your full pension, plus an additional disability payment. I have a friend who is getting the extra disability pay and he is plenty healthy to work, play sports, etc.

You can bet Peterson will get plenty of disability for PTSD, in addition to every ache and pain that comes with being in your 50's.

Where do I get one of these jobs where failure is richly rewarded?

Until about a year ago: State Department, CIA, FBI, DOJ, DOD, and of course with any major Fake News providers.

WRONG. You have to prove yourself via a track record before you get to be a CEO.

"Become a CEO, they’ll give you $50,000,000 when they fire you. Golden parachute and all."

Get a PHd in a major university. Steal good ideals from relatives and friends. Then fool a lot of key people in a key industry where you stole the ideas, about how smart you are. Then, become a senior officer and a board member with a major company. After about a year become a ranting/raging pyscho in meetings. See MDs for documentation of your problem. Get fired or laid off with a huge settlement.

Repeat the process in another part of the country/world in a few years.

Besides corporations, get hired as a school superintendent at a well paying job or as a city manager. Repeat the psycho stuff for a few years to get fired.

I have a semi relative, who has been pulling this dog and pony show for decades. His relatives and past friends have nothing to do with this creep.

“which legal experts say will be hard to prove. “

He radioed that Nikolas was there, then on video stood behind a pillar after simply letting the kid walk past him.
