Not an expert on anything, just old enough to remember devastating 'natural' and man made disasters during my lifetime.
Seems normal to me....remember Mt. St. Helens...maybe Mt. Rainier is re-awakening??? (Hope not..my son and family live in valley below it.)
Check out Dutchsinse on YouTube. Ive been following him for a couple weeks now and hes very interesting. Apparently there is a slow slip all along the west coast for the past couple weeks or so. However very little has been reported in Oregon which is odd. He maintains that earthquakes can be predicted by following the way the force travels, creating quakes sequentially along the fault lines, however this is apparently a very controversial stance so he meets with a lot of resistance from the experts. The thought is that the USGS in Oregon has not been reporting anything in order to mess up his analysis.
Here is last nights weekly forecast: https://youtu.be/K17hjN3EVn0
Trying to link articles on Mt.St.Helen’s recent rumbling. Links want you to pay or sign up and I don’t do that;)
Like this Townhall: https://townhall.com/news/us/2018/01/03/series-of-small-quakes-rattle-area-near-mount-st-helens-n2429751
Three quakes near the Hanford Nuclear site. Good thing I have volcano insurance.
3.2 off of Gold Beach, Ore. That’s the southern boundary of the Cascadia Fault. A number of 5+ following a couple of 6+ in Indonesia this week. A 7+ in Mexico was recorded this month. What is strangely quiet is the space on the Left Coast between Los Angeles, CA, and Alaska.
That is a really good video and shows the depth of the fissures in the break.
I haven’t read any geologists’ certainty for the slide. Is it because of rain, or, as I am pondering, previous and recent earthquakes?
Here’s a link to all the quakes in the area. They are small, but still strong enough to cause buildings to rattle and unstable land to move.

(I’m having trouble with my computer - posting and linking - will take a break and restart;)
I wonder if that slide area could make it to the highway below?
And dam the river?
Those are the two biggest concerns.
The DOT has placed a row of trucks to block the road from falling rocks. You can see them on the videos.
