“The 57s will guide the 35s in on US planes and their longer range BVR missiles will do the deed, while the 25s take on the ground troops. Throw in some TOSS-1As and the surprise could go the other way.”

It’s not going to go like that. The result will be much the same. Putin knows it. They can only win when we don’t have the resolve to play their deadly game. Trump does.

I thought ISIS was already defeated. And the Russians and Syrians seemed to be doing a pretty good job of doing it without our help. At what point do we pull our troops out of there. A year? 5 years? 10 years?

Early rep[orts did not mention Marines specifically but ‘special forces’ personnel. Likely HIMARS and 155s, early reports also mentioned, in addition to the Apaches, Mr Spooky or Mr Spectre (AC-130U & H) ... he was likely too far away for the Russians to see, even so, without manpads and just assault rifles, there wad little the Russians could do against hm.

Correct!

They did this on purpose to test our resolve and to see how we’d respond at the envelope being pushed beyond the brink.

They lost...

First clip:

“The reports that are on TV about ... well, you know, about Syria and the 25 people that are wounded there from the Syrian f-— army and — well ... to make it short, we’ve had our asses f-— kicked. So one squadron f-— lost 200 people ... right away, another one lost 10 people ... and I don’t know about the third squadron, but it got torn up pretty badly, too ... So three squadrons took a beating ... The Yankees attacked ... first they blasted the f-— out of us by artillery, and then they took four helicopters up and pushed us in a f-— merry-go-round with heavy caliber machine guns ... They were all shelling the holy f-— out of it, and our guys didn’t have anything besides the assault rifles ... nothing at all, not even mentioning shoulder-fired SAMs or anything like that ... So they tore us to pieces for sure, put us through hell, and the Yankees knew for sure that the Russians were coming, that it was us, f-— Russians ... Our guys were going to commandeer an oil refinery, and the Yankees were holding it ... We got our f-— asses beat rough, my men called me ... They’re there drinking now ... many have gone missing ... it’s a total f-— up, it sucks, another takedown ... Everybody, you know, treats us like pieces of s-— ... They beat our asses like we were little pieces of s-— ... but our f-— government will go in reverse now, and nobody will respond or anything, and nobody will punish anyone for this ... So these are our casualties.”

Putin threw the lives of those boys away, the top leaders were a part of this, Prigohzin: https://www.vox.com/world/2018/2/26/17044930/yevgheny-prigozhin-putin-mueller-troll-farm Apparently, some of the mercs doing this because there is low employment in Russia. Putin would be thrown out on his ear in a free election.

The Putin trolls are despicable and said very ugly things about Nemtsov 3 years ago, maybe some of them have been banned. It seems the Putin trolls are either white nationalists types or outright trolls. They are pitiful and do not represent the Russian people but just their criminal leaders.

And Putin makes deals with Turkey, with Saudi Arabia, with Erdogan and the Saudi Royalty, it’s guaranteed, if we broke off relations with Turkey or SA and maybe we should, the Russian Oligarchy would love to step in to our place.

This is a situation where demarcation lines were drawn and Russia violated them. They knew not to entangle with troops that were fighting ISIS is specific areas that have US Special Ops embedded. They gambled and lost badly. Putin doesn’t mind gambling with Russian lives.

We disagree. Putin doesn't mind gambling, but we should not be there. We are not making the situation better in any way. If Russian troops attack us, we should kill them, obviously. However, it would be better not to have our troops there in the first place unless they have a purpose that serves our national interest.

Option 1 would be to topple Assad. We're not even trying to do that, as far as I can tell.

Option 2 should be to make Syria stable as quickly as possible. We are actively preventing that outcome.

Option 3? That is to keep Syria unstable longer, when they are already seven years into their war. Our strategy is the worst of all possible choices. Even toppling Assad would be better, and I suspect that would be incredibly harmful to our interests.

“I don’t want to fight Russia anywhere, “.......

I don’t see Russia as our problem, better to direct the attention to the Chinese and North Koreans.

Yes it is, Russia and Syria are still fighting in the suburbs of Damascus, Russia after 3 years, they have done very little against ISIS, they flood the West with Syrian refugees.

Russia makes deals with Turkey and Saudi Arabia, they meet with their rulers frequently, enough too, of those who make a claim Russia is making some great stand against Sunni Radicalism and are enemies of these countries.

If it weren’t for the coalition against ISIS, ISIS would still be thriving. Syria and Russia do little against them.

So you don’t like ISIS defeated? I don’t see why the Putin supporters don’t scurry off to the Democrat Underground. They seem to be anti-American at the least, I can imagine what they say away from this website.

ISIS for unteempth time.

And for the umpteenth time...

The United States is screwing around in Syria for a lot of reasons, but eradicating ISIS isn't one of them.

The recent catch and release of 100s of ISIS fighters in Raqqa by the American led SDF is proof of that fact, as are the assortment of Sunni orcs camped out unmolested on Israel's door step in the Golan.

The neo-liberal deep state uses the 'fighting ISIS' trope as cover for their clumsy attempt to control the outcome of the Syrian civil war and start another war with Iran...don't be one of their useful idiots.
