The man would have been better off telling the parent to shut his brat up-but otherwise I agree entirely with your assessment-no one has the right to inflict their ill behaved kids on others in a public venue. I brought up my cub the same way as my mom did me and my sibling-just as we did, my cub knew the phrase “just wait till I get you to the truck” meant stop it now or get your butt smacked somewhere between here and the parking lot. If I see a parent discipline a kid in the grocery store out here, I always thank them for being a responsible parent.

I grew up in a very rural county, it was common knowledge that ANY responsible adult could tan your hide for being disrespectful or causing trouble. Then you got it again when you got home.
That system worked pretty good. Kept many of us out of trouble.

Some of these kids, I’d like to ring their necks. They don’t get their own way, they scream, louder and louder, and mom just ignores them. I DON’T! When mom isn’t looking, I make the ugliest face I can and growl at them. The effect can be quite amusing and most of the time it works.

I still give my mom and dad a good night kiss on the mouth and I am way pass the point of being a child.

A 2 year old child should be able to understand what the word “no” means-if they don’t, then they are not ready to be in public, and should not be brought there until they learn how to behave there. They should also know that ignoring “no” means a couple smacks on the butt or a light slap on the hand, but that is just my opinion as a parent...

My guy lives in the city-if he stops at the grocery store after work and there is a kid acting out, he pulls his jacket aside where the kid can see and casually jingles the handcuffs -the resulting look on the kid’s-and sometimes the parent’s faces-have him chuckling for hours-mean, cruel man...
