Saudi Arabia announced on Monday it will allow movie theaters to open in the conservative kingdom next year, for the first time in more than 35 years, in the latest social push by the countrys young crown prince.
Its a stark reversal in a county where movie theaters were shut down in the 1980s during a wave of ultraconservatism in the country. Many of Saudi Arabias clerics view Western movies and even Arabic films made in Egypt and Lebanon as sinful.

There must have been a booming market in black market DVDs and pirated media. ........................... LOL, yeah, lots of Porn I’m sure. Looks like they are trying to catch up with the 21st century, who knows maybe he’ll succeed in doing it? If he attended any of the Liberal Colleges in the USA, he’ll mess it up. What ever moral code they have left, will be thrown to the wind.
First movie showing The Wizard of Islam where Dorothy gets stoned by the munchkins.
Just no Hollywood movies made by Jews ...
The KSA Reformation continues...
In the 80s I rented a tape of Bachelor Party with Tom Hanks that had been censored by the Saudi religious authorities. They pretty much spliced the beginning credits to the end credits, and put a blue dot over the dancing hula girl statue in the beginning credits.

Wow! Saudi Arabia, welcome to 1912!!!!!

Not a bad idea, considering the junk they put out nowadays
MbS was not educated in the US.
The first one shown should be “The Innocence of Muslims” since that is the film that enraged the islamic world enough to cause the Benghazi attack.
Maybe a biography historical drama depicting Mohammed
“What ever moral code they have left, will be thrown to the wind.”
Yep. This is a momentous step into the unknown for them.
I rely on Netflix now. My new find is White Collar.
Well, other than some indie films, what the heck would they watch? Movies are so bad today...
