KGB ‘Christians’: Putin, Stalin, and the KGB’s History of Manipulating the Orthodox Church
Breitbart ^ | Jan 2016 | Spyridon MItsotakis

Posted on 12/01/2017 3:38:28 PM PST by GoldenState_Rose

"Anyone who grew up with the Eastern Orthodox Church (in my case, the Greek Orthodox Church in New York) will get a good laugh at Vladimir Putin pretending to be a Christian during his first Easter as Russian ruler..."

"The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has been, since its reconstitution during WWII, an instrument of the state. The best illustration of this is probably the 1949 “Greetings from the clergy and laity of the Russian Orthodox Church to the leader of the nations of the USSR, the Generalissimus Joseph Stalin on his 70th birthday.” It states, in part:

"Witnessing at every step your noble efforts to make people’s lives peaceful and happy, we see in your person not only a great statesman and leader, guiding the lives of people in a new direction of history, but also a fatherly, caring trustee of all aspects of our human existence with all its various needs."

The Russian Orthodox patriarch at the time of Putin’s Easter show was patriarch Aleksi II, who died on December 5, 2008. Lt. Gen. (r) Ion Mihai Pacepa, the highest Soviet bloc official to defect to the United States, writes of Aleksi II, “The KGB had carried him under the codename ‘DROZDOV’ and awarded him its Certificate of Honor, as was learned from a KGB archive accidentally left behind in Estonia.”

As recounted by the great journalist Anna Politkovskaya (1958-2006), the bravest of all the many Putin-critics to be systematically assassinated, in her book Putin’s Russia..."

Not all the Orthodox faithful in Russia are beholden to the State at the expense of Christ, but unfortunately enough of its leadership is. :( For more on this topic, see this really illuminating article:

Putin talks up a good game when the West is weak. BUT does he ever acknowledge the role his beloved old USSR had in the rampant and insidious channels by which Soviet ideology infiltrated and *secularized* the WEST and moved some of our core institutions towards leftism and socialism? (And continues to!)

No, rather, he calls the fall of the Soviet Union the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the past century.

Russia has faithful Christians and priests/monastics among the population, but as a nation it will not be able to claim a leadership mantle so long as it harbors Putin’s government — which directly traces its roots to the Bolshevik terror, to Stalin, despite the collapse of the USSR.

And it’s not as though the tsars* were the much better, give or take a few.

The Russian Orthodox Church needs to forge an identity separate from the earthly whims of Empire. And the Russian State and PEOPLE need to completely divorce from the Bolshevik legacy through a process of repentance and genuine spiritual renewal.

At the moment, the Church there operates as a fascist entity with a lot of surface ritual. Lenin statues, Stalin busts, Dzherzinsky portraits stand proudly next to that of Christian saints and icons. :(

Not to mention Lenin’s body is STILL unburied and lies in full display in the center of Red Square.

Double-minded Hypocrisy at its finest.

God can use evildoers to accomplish his ends—even good things. Including Putin and Assad.

But by that logic, this is also true:

you appear erudite and therefore must know, the joining of church and state has been the historical norm.

And still is in vast swathes of the world.

In fact, to the best of my knowledge the USA was the very first secular government. Even today there are numerous State Churches in Europe.

Does Ukraine have one?

This one is fairly, though not totally, innocuous by that bigger measure.

And I’m only applying the tape to Christendom. 2when we measure Islam, there is even a closer step toward total theocracy. Each and every one of them imbued with more evil than the ROC.

I think your essential gripe is with the Russian State.

I'd call that bearing false witness, among other things...and maybe you'd care to define "creeper" for those of us not fluent in chicken hawk.

Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), has issued a statement on behalf of the Council hailing the historic meeting of Pope Francis, pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, and Patriarch Kirill, primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Catch that? The Russian Orthodox Church is the largest member of the (hard left) World Council of Churches!

That is all you need to know to understand that it is a sham operation. Reverend Wright’s fake church United Church of Christ (UCC) is also a member. In fact, his (communist) “Black Liberation Theology” was concocted by the KGB.

The Russians must laugh their butts off at how easily westerners can be tricked and deceived.

That is so much B.S. Putin was only in Syria to protect Iran's interest in Assad, and to protect the use of Assad's warm water port for use by Russia. Russia was not there to fight ISIS, except the limited parts of ISIS that were a threat to Assad. If you followed what Russia did in Syria, they were not on some mission against ISIS. Any Christians helped were collateral, and very minor. You are being sold a bill of goods.

How Russia arms America's southern neighbors

Ioan Grillo
May 9, 2014

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Russia's push into Ukraine has put many on edge. But less known is that Russia is also strengthening its military links south of the Rio Grande and re-establishing itself as a power in the region.

Vladimir Putin has been strengthening military links here, and Russia is now the largest arms dealer to governments in Latin America, surpassing the United States.

Russia has even floated the possibility of building new military bases in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, and putting its warships permanently in the Caribbean.

In the midst of the Ukraine crisis, Russia's top diplomat Sergei Lavrov recently visited Cuba, Peru, Chile, and Nicaragua, where he announced that Russia would also pour money into the new Central American canal project. ..."

Russia Boosts Arms, Training for Leftist Latin Militaries

Moscow defense minister inks deals with Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua for joint exercises

BY: Bill Gertz
February 20, 2015

Russia agreed to provide military training for three leftist regimes in Latin America and increase military visits and exercises following a visit last week to the region by Moscow's Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu, Pentagon officials said.

Shoygu met with defense and military leaders in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua and signed several agreements on warship visits and military training during the visit, which ran from Feb. 11 to 14. It is not clear whether any new arms deals were completed during the visit.

Defense officials said the Russian leader is seeking bases in the region for strategic bomber flights that Shoygu recently promised would include flights over the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean.
